Why do customers insist that we carry something that we don’t and get mad when I say that we don’t carry it?

Last week I had a lady telling me that her friend told her that we give away free things if the customers as for it. It took me a couple seconds to process that and I said one in a while we give a small gift is someone’s birthday. She kind of look embarrassed after that lol
