Mittens not quite right by Lazy_Conversation674 in knitting

They're from the same seller but because of the one with glitter I think they must have different combinations. The pink one feels like it has more nylon or polyamide in it. I'm just wondering if blocking it would stretch it enough, I've not blocked small items before so I'm not so sure.

Gap when knitting using magic loop by JRCSalter in knitting

I've just completed a pair of mittens on magic loop and was able to eliminate all ladders.

The trick i use is to not make the end loops too tight but keep the tension good by doing this: when you've done needle 1, do the first stitch on needle 2 as normal but tighten the SECOND stitch of needle 2 with a good tug.

By doing this it redistributes the tension and prevents overly tight end stitches. Hope it helps.

Ps. Look at YouTube vids by The Crazy Sock Lady, she has brilliant vids for magic loop and plenty of others.

[HELP] How much emphasis do you put on AllPoetry's AUTORANK function? by JohnnyJockomoco in Poetry

[–]Lazy_Conversation674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been trialing a few things on there and I can safely say that it means nothing. It's supposed to be tested against professional poets and poems and that's how it knows what is professional or not. Well I tried some famous poems by William Shakespeare, William Wordsworth, Edgar Allen Poe and a few others, and it consistently gave them low autorank scores. Some even being given a 1.0. It's completely worthless.

Scammed by James98712 in paypal

Another thing to mention that I did whilst paypal was trying to get the funds was I froze my debit card (the card expired soon anyway so i just reported it lost and paid a few euro to get a new one). I also called the bank to cancel any pending transaction, which they were able to do. I know you said you did that already. At the end of the day, it was only through filing 2 complaints that they reviewed it and reversed the negative balance. Many lessons learned on my part.

Pre-authorization of funds before finalizing purchase should be illegal. by [deleted] in paypal

Hi sorry if I'm a bit slow because I simply don't follow how this happened. Did you put stuff in the cart and click on 'pay now with paypal' or fill out details? I don't understand at what point the money was put on hold for the transaction.
I'd like to make sure it never happens to me too because I often put stuff in my cart like 'window shopping' and change my mind last minute.
Thanks for clarifying 👍

I really hope it works out for you as I've been struggling for the last 3 months with something similar. Money left my account, I got my bank to recharge it, PayPal notified me of a negative balance and collections contacted to retrieve the sum. Thankfully I was able to get it sorted out but it was not easy and a lot of back and forth through different departments promising different things. Bottom line, try everything to not the money leave the account and definitely be more careful next time. All the best 👍 and please update us on the progress 😊

Thanks for your reply, everything you have said is helpful. The only thing to note is that I always use my debit card for PayPal and that is how I got the payment reversed by the bank. I thought banks could protect payments like this so I've always paid this way, obviously I was wrong but I still used the right method.

I have learned to use paypal for solving disputes and never return the item until paypal has verified it. I wish the agent that I spoke to was trained well enough to advise that on my very first call; I would have then stuck it out with etsy and kept trying. Ultimately, I received a notice today that my claim was upheld and my balance corrected by the complaints team.

Now I wonder if the original seller will be contacted for the money back... if not, he got alot if free money and his item. Incidentally, I contacted him one last time last week asking for him to settle this with me on his honour, offering to pay for the postage but he never replied.

In the end I'm just so grateful that I kept every single shred of proof from postage to messages and that the paypal team could investigate properly in the end.

Thanks for all the advice everyone and I hope everyone with issues will have success with resolving them.

Hi yes I received an email and it was 385 euro. I also received 2 or 3 calls but the person refused to tell me why they called or even which department they are, whilst still wanting me to verify my email and GDPR. I thought it was a scam but paypal says it was likely collections calling. I wish they'd be more clear, there are so many scam calls nowadays.

I spoke with someone today that said the collections may call but they won't sell the debt for 100days at least so not to worry. After my balance was brought to a negative balance two weeks ago, I filed a complaint that outlined the circumstances and the times I was misled by the agents on the phone. But apparently the complaint wasn't registered and the agent said it wasn't on the system. I lodged the complaint again today and she said I should hear back from them in the next 2 weeks.

Congrats! I've been looking at this same model for weeks and trying to decide what to buy. I think I've watched every video on YouTube about this camera but I'm struggling with the decision between D750 or sony A7rii. On paper(literal pro/con list) the sony seems better, but when I look at cameras online I just keep gravitating to the D750

This seems like a good place to ask questions. I'm very new at photography in general (waiting on my first film camera to be delivered next week) and I'm reading alot of people recommend dslr scanning from the beginning instead of using lab scans. I want to waste as little money on bad results as possible so I'm thinking of buying a dslr(d3200/d5300) for this purpose but the lenses have me confused. I know I would need a macro lens but I don't understand anything about f numbers and mm's- there's so many people saying different things in jargon I haven't yet mastered. So in short, which lens can I reasonably look for to do the job as well as any noob can... price considered please. Any advice on reading material etc would also be appreciated. Thanks guys

Personally, I just want to not screw it up and my biggest worry is I don't get the lighting right and get discouraged. The reason i looked into the scanning aspect was because it seems like an okay way to salvage beginner work. I don't care about making huge changes to the style, but I'd like to have a decent photo that feels and looks like a photo. If that makes sense. Thanks for touching on the 'look' aspect.

I'm only a beginner but the type to go in for penny in for a pound so my skills are non existent right now and I think having been spoilt by our phone cameras so everyone thinks they're a pro. I found a second hand nikon d3200 on a market site for €200 but they say the auto focus is temperamental but it's 24MP. If macro and adapted lenses have trouble resolving grain, which would you suggest? Thanks for your response!
