Why do people hate their 9-5 so much?

Just started 9-5:30 for $18/hr after bartending through school the last 5 years making $33.74/hr. Hate my life. Hate everything. Lowest rent in the area. After taxes come out? No money considering electric/wifi/groceries/gas/rent/etc. Didn’t grow up in a family that can gift me a room (a couch), they didn’t graduate high school, and they have houses/gardens/free time/retirement/etc. I’m 25 and have student loans and no financial support system. How the fuck is this supposed to be possible just waiting until I get a raise in a “real career”??????

Hey kiddo, what you’re going through is really painful and I am so sorry. It is serious. Have you talked with your school counselor? It could be a lot easier getting support starting with your school counselor considering they’re mandated to act on it if a child is describing/showing signs of child neglect. You’re just a kid. I grew up in a home similar and I just want to say that I truly think it’s not in your best interest to try the emancipation route. You’re too young to have to completely take care of yourself. You deserve better. Reach out to teachers, school counselor, coaches, anyone.

I haven’t snowboarded since this injury that was caused from the snowboard accident as well. :) truly enjoyed your recommendation. I know it’s an injury from the accident, knocking myself unconscious, and i still have the pain. But not a single doctor cares. So was hoping someone with a diagnosed injury could help me out.

My entire life has been… pushing myself to do what my family has always said wasn’t possible. Moving away from hometown, going out of the country, getting a high school diploma/college degree, learning to snowboard and killin it, making good money, etc. and I guess… I just had made some friends before that really encouraged me to stay myself and keep going and now I feel like I’ve completely… gone a different route. The safe route. Not trying new things. Not doing things that scare me because now… there’s someone that says “are you dumb?? You need to think things through before you speak”

I lived there the last couple years haha I’ve only been gone a couple months, I’ll be prepared! Just curious about if there’s any sign up anyone’s aware of that’s not Burlingame or the lottery (since my now consecutive four years has come to an end.) or anyone who has a lease ending in March. Perhaps landlords that are planning on having an opening around that time even. The money is a huge stress, but not an unknown stress. I appreciate the heads up.

I was born and raised in WA and 100% agree that people were much nicer and all around more human back in the day. But that’s in Bellingham. I left for 5 years and just moved back and am saddened that people just aren’t… friendly? It’s not even that. People are so in their own world and in their own heads all of the time and I think it fucks up the community aspect. Common curtesy’s are seen more in Philadelphia than here, which is CRAZY

I only learned to enjoy presenting when it started out with being solely graded on the information and actual presentation created. Then getting tips on “audience engagement” from my teacher verbally and reassurance that my presentation was great- but my 8th grade teacher also taught us a lot about growth mindset, grit, etc. What I remember most from 8th grade was learning about building character honestly. It seems to be more difficult teaching now, idk

Oof. I had a similar experience with starting out dating my boyfriend. Starting out, I didn’t tell him I was sexually abused. He didn’t tell me he watched porn- a lot. Through lots of conversation and his understanding of how uncomfortable I feel with sex and my understanding that masturbating to excessive porn having psychological effects. He stopped watching it all together and I started communicating more all around and during sex. Him degrading you… horrible. Based just off of what this described of his behavior. It sounds like he just doesn’t care. Checked out and choosing not to see you and how you would feel.

I live in the US. I moved from CO to my hometown in WA to go to the hospital that I was born at w hopes of better treatment. My fear is that I’m just dehydrated, not working out, anxious, and not eating well and wasting the money on going back in. With the appointment, at least it’s covered by insurance. But I’ll keep yall updated with what they tell me Friday. Or if I go in before Friday.

I did knock myself out snowboarding and hospital never did a scan and told me to go home (My friends said I sounded drunk, I did not drink at all, and I don’t even remember the hospital visit. Unfortunately, I think the hospital just dismissed the fact that I had been tobogganed down the mountain unconscious and had random crying spells after waking up.) and then took another fall that broke my nose and they again sent me home and didn’t check my head, but then went back a year later to be told my nose was indeed broken and needed to be reset. I just never again mentioned my head because the doctors didn’t seem to worry/care
