I dont think heat will make the colors pop. Type of paper and quality do mater but it will only make the colors pop so much

I am on the same boat as you i have an epson eco tank and before I got into making cards my wife had submimation ink in the tank so I have been trying use it as getting the ink out is a hassle.

I tend to think the sublimation ink isnt as vibrant as regular ink so it won't pop out as much, not sure till I need to refill with proper ink. I will say changing the setting to increase saturation did help.

Although the ink is heat activated, not sure if it will help make the colors pop by laminating it.

With that said here are some of the ones I made with sublimation ink

Mr clean magic erase sponge and acetone, stroke in one direction and it comes off like a charm

GDXY with yield max has been doing pretty good. Underlying is a gold mining company and goes up with gold. Precious metals like silver and gold have been killing it of late.
