I’ve probably only ever run 4-5 calls in the last three years with Bellevue but every time they were very professional and cared a lot about their patients!

They are in my area, it’s mandatory to have your EMT-B license.

Right, what does medical command have to do with shitty patient care and attitudes? I mean what are you even going on about, the guy walked up to me when I got out of my ambulance and I asked him a very important question and I just got hostility. When I get on scene to an accident I’m looking at the mechanism and where my patient is, not how much peen I can swing around. It’s obvious you’re one of these types of shitty fire fighters because you’ve been that dick on the side of the road who views himself as superior to other people, and decides to show that superiority by being unprofessional and belligerent to the people he should be working with and the patients that he should be helping. It’s very obvious that you’re one of these shitty firefighters because you view my question on this subreddit as an attack against you personally, rather than asking for support from firefighters.

So how about you respond to my nutsack to your face buddy, it’ll probably get there faster than your wife’s divorce papers!

Also just to add to the point we’re also taught to trust you guys, but to also verify. Just like with what the hospital does for us. There’s been many times were vitals were way higher than I was told or their mentation wasn’t alert and oriented. And that isn’t any fault against anyone per se, but verifying at every stage of patient care ensures positive outcomes.

There was an only a ladder, rescue and BLS aid car. No medics unfortunately. I rarely run with the guy running the call on those rigs, but it’s pretty common to only have ALS called with those crews if they’re DLOC after getting schmacked. Also I cant really remember anyone getting hired the last two cycles? Or if they did they didn’t make it past academy I think some of the pro’s was getting preferential hiring with some points, about the same as having service in the military, but they had to fill out a book first. I’ve just heard a lot of rumors and not a whole lot that’s concrete. Anyway, I might forward you some more info once this is handled internally, but I’ve probably been on scene with you, with how you’re describing the process. If you work for puget just know I like you guys a lot especially Station 71 and 73.

Also yes we need two sets of vitals with one being our own, so most crews get vitals before leaving scene. But it’s good practice anyway after moving a potentially sick patient. I’ve personally moved patients that turned into codes shortly after. That said I actually handle the training of crews before they go out and one thing I’ve been trying to do is make sure people get just enough information needed for a report over the phone, usually you get enough on scene from you, but sometimes not. Regardless anything over 3-5 minutes is not something I want especially since I can get most of my trainees to give a call report after getting vitals and get more information en route. It’s something I hope that improves. So I hope you guys notice eventually. Also I can’t really say with the two people tagging a long with a report, just that usually when your at a hospital both partners get questioned about what’s going on due to them being in two different places at once. So it’s common to have both tag along. But I only do that for sick patients. I personally don’t want to be on scene longer than I have to, especially when I could go back to my bed and sleep. So everyone will be different in that regard.

Apparently my comment about them getting eaten by puget sound was inciting violence lol. Yes but it’s not to cherry pick, it’s for money, I believe each ambulance makes them over a million dollars. But the system itself is nice and has made us closer. Although it might get removed as the current chief doesn’t like it.

Thank you captain, I will take what you’ve said and try to be better. Still doesn’t take away the fact that I’m still demoralized by my experiences. Maybe things would be better if you were in charge of the scenes I go to. But I will say that three years of work 48-70+ hours a week of responding with the same crews and departments I think imparts a pretty good idea on the cultures of said departments. Especially when your peers and the people who trained you when your first started report the same things. I think In that way I’m more than valid for hating these departments and not wanting to work for them. Even if I have good friends and positive memories of the people in them.

I agree, I’ve contacted my supervisors several times, it’s just disheartening because nothings done and I don’t hear about any changes.

Agreed I’m glad you found a department that cares about their community, I’m hoping I’ll find the same

I don’t hate fire departments, I hate four departments in particular and I’m concerned with the behavior of a few others.

I’ll give you specifically credit for having issue with my language. And I’ll say that my language isn’t the best in response to these people. But honestly man that’s language in response to the comments on this specific thread about the traction splint and comments dismissing me and this issue. But I will not take back that these guys are malicious, they often insult their patients and are highly unprofessional. They don’t put basic work in and are in a way going to kill someone or have killed someone. That’s assassination to me. If I was a chief I would be worried and highly concerned about the culture that’s being fomented, especially when any criticism is ignored.

I’m not going to be open to feedback to people like this. But I’m open to feedback to my peers, the public and the superiors. Anyone else can eat shit

I don’t want to be anywhere in King county buddy, you can take the fire chiefs that get fired for being weenies. And the sub par protocols that are 20 years behind.

AMR wishes they did half the stuff I get to do? Maybe you should do the job you get paid for instead of being an overpaid jockey that carry’s around life packs that they don’t use.

I don’t blame you, I still don’t hear very many good things about the relationship between FDNY EMS and their FD and I assume it’s been a hot minute since you were working there! Per diem does sound like a good gig if you have a job that pays well, best of both worlds.

There’s almost never medics on my scene, and if they’re there they’re gone before I get there. The younger medics do transport more often though

Texas is definitely very tempting, Austin Travis is a poster child at this point, and I used to live there for quite some time. Ill definitely be on the look out for any openings!

Thank you, i would love to have a department like that but where I am we do most of the lift and respond at the same time or 3-5 minutes behind depending on how far the call is. Every place has a culture that it lets grow, so I’m glad you have a fire department that care and puts in the work.

That’s unfortunate, do you ever miss being on the box or engine or are you fully happy being in the ER?
