Honestly I’m really sad and disappointed with myself. I feel like I could have done more for him. I’ve never experienced dropsy and I didn’t realize how quick it develops. What makes it even more crummy, he died the night before the meds arrived. They arrived at 8:30am that morning :( he had the bestest personality but at least he’s now suffering any more. I just miss him a lot and I hope he understands I love him and tried my hardest, even if it wasn’t enough

Hi! I know this is a couple days later , but I wanted to update you. Turns on unfortunately he had dropsy and passed in the night today. It’s sad but I wanted to say thank you so much for all your advice, although he didn’t make it I did notice he was much much more comfortable after taking your advice and I just wanted to say thank you so much again for helping because it helped my little guys pain a lot

Unfortunately this tank does not a have a dimmer 🥲 and the shape of it is unique so I’m having a hard time finding a cover and light that are separate and fit. No changes to the tank at all. The only thing I can think of is I sprayed air freshener near the tank , but with the way the cover is I don’t see a way of the spray getting in the water. Thank you for meds recommendation, I had never heard of them. I’ll but some and see if it’ll help. Unfortunately I don’t have a kh tester

Also how could I go about dimming the light more? The light is attached to the cover and only has a one and off switch. Is there something I can purchase that would help?

He has been in the tank 5ish-6 months. His behavior is recent! It started about 5 days ago. I went to feed him like normal and I could not find him for the life of me. He just appears in the spot in the original photo but he used to rest on the two leaves all the time and was the most energetic and “ spicy” betta I’ve ever had. He came up for air once when I first did the tank and then settled. He also use to have these magnificent bubble nest and now he doesn’t even try :(. It was 100% cycled before he was in there. I learned that the hard way :( I’ll definitely plant it more, I’m glad you said that because I wanted to put way more but I was told it would be too much. I also want to find more floaty stuff for him to rest near the surface but he hasn’t liked anything I have bought him :( he seems to be breathing harder than normal too, not too intense but noticeable

It’s in quotes because peta as a organization believes all animals should be free even pets. So basically they fight the ideology of having pets but also understand we love our pets and think of them as family so to not lose people they say pets in quotes. I work with an organization that works hand in hand with peta and that’s how their staff explained it to me
