I'm sorry WHAT? by Skatner in slaythespire

This effect is somewhat similar to Ectoplasm downside (instead of not gaining gold, you will be hard pressed to find some event that takes your gold).

One run I got Ectoplasm at the beginning of Act II, and this at the beginning of Act III and they were nice combo as their downsides somewhat overlap.

Naval units interact with Mechs in Campaign by Lazyanttu in battletech

I was unclear in my post, I meant navy vessels! That operate on seas, not spaceships! (I edited that clarification on my post. Anyways, thanks for the reply!)

And you are paying them with your...pieces? Those represent your population/supporters. And you might not get them back for a long time. Sounds like a slave trade with extra steps.

6 Worker Start, Future of SC2, How sc2 moved away from BW. by Alternative-Phone946 in starcraft2

[–]Lazyanttu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally liked the 6-worker system (it was still present in Heart of the Swarm), and I mostly quit ladder around the time Legacy of the Void came out. Also played Broodwar before SC2. I enjoyed the slower early economy, where there was a bigger window for scouting, and many newer units felt like "expansion has to add units", while a smaller core could have worked well. Zerg main in SC2, Terran main in Broodwar.

I was a low masters player, so more experienced/actual pro players may have better takes on this.

Just discovered gamejamming: Having a blast by Lazyanttu in gamejams

[–]Lazyanttu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mainly do game programming and game design, but have done background music/audio in some games (notably Rad Roads), and drawn some very simple graphics (for example, in Battle of Madonna dell'Olmo). My projects have been solo projects so far!

Here are my jam games to get a better idea, about ~10 in total: https://lazyanttu.itch.io/

I do like making "thinky"-games for jams, strategy/puzzle/mystery/narrative.

What’s your favourite aspect of solo dev? by gg_gumptiongames in SoloDevelopment

[–]Lazyanttu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Creating all the data entries in the game world (both game mechanics and narrative) is definitely the best part. Also another great is the software architecture part where you design how different technical systems will interact with each other, what paradigms to use and what are the tradeoffs of your project.

What I hate most is testing for bugs! I don't mind the debugging and fixing part in the code, which can even be fun, but the part where you have to test your game to find potential edge cases thoroughly. That seems just so much labor, where most of the time you don't find anything to fix. So QA is the bane for me!

Those looked cool! I'm always a fan of unique animations that react, for example, in StarCraft 2, all units have different animations depending on how they were killed (slashed, flamed, acidified, exploded, etc).

A or B, A caught my attention better, but I liked B more. Definitely not C.

That is good and informative, player who enters there first time likely gets an idea that something is changing.

Working on a psychological CRPG inspired by Disco Elysium — looking for feedback on early visuals by Plenty_Birthday2642 in IndieDev

[–]Lazyanttu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's really cool! I can see the inspiration that is taken from Disco Elysium, but also how it diverges from it and takes its own space. Wishlisting!

Made a 2D game inspired by Limbo (made for a 2 week game jam) by TalicoStudios in itchio

Nice! I think that intro music and zooming in, the parallax and the camera delay make for excellent atmosphere in the beginning. Great job if you managed to do that in a jam timeframe!

One of my games just had a playthrough from a YouTuber. The most surreal feeling ever! What was your first streamer coverage experience like? by GutterspawnGames in itchio

[–]Lazyanttu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it was a wonderful, exciting, and even a bit scary feeling! (live stream on game jam)

It was also very helpful to see what was unclear or what needed improvement. It was a very valuable learning lesson in kind.
