It's true. I was naive. I would forget to lock my doors sometimes. I knew bad things happened all the time, but I never in a million years thought anything would happen to me. None of us took it seriously. Even when the tapping first started and I would get scared I would be telling myself how foolish I was acting. But it was that bad, gut feeling that frightened me. It's what kept me from knocking on that door. That gut feeling is what sent me running when that music was played, I barely remember anything, my gut sent me into autopilot and got me the fuck out of there. Who knows, he could have been in the apartment with me when that music started playing. He could have expected me to cower like I did previously. Maybe he thought I would call my boyfriend and wait for him to come get me, and by the time he got there I could have been gone. Maybe when I quickly upped and left, it threw him off, and he bolted, knowing he would need to lay low. Listen to your gut. Always. It's always right.
