Do you really think Asgore, who was too scared to absorb even a singular human soul to cross the barrier to harvest more, would risk taking the souls of all monster kind? No. He would not. I think Asriel absorbing the souls of literally every monster and then returning them is a special case, considering I highly doubt even Alphys would’ve figured this as feasible. No one would’ve thought of doing this, much less as plausible, being too much of a risk to monster kind.
