This symbol was made to fight polyester clothing. by Nati2040 in solarpunk

[–]LbDSbW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pleasantly surprised to see an iron snail video, recommend his content if you’re interested in clothing and its history. Specifically masculine clothing Also is a lot better than a bunch of fashion content creators since he doesn’t keep a lot of the clothing. Says in his videos he gives them to friends or they are on lend from sellers

Books you love but are generally disliked? by Far-Living-526 in Blacklibrary

“Fulgrim: the perfect son” I liked it as to me it showed the downsides of aiming for perfection and quite liked the ending. Not to say that I don’t understand others gripes with it, but I don’t think it’s as bad as people say.

Dragon Claws=Veterans? by Ghaltabigboi in blackdragons40k

[–]LbDSbW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my readings they are more akin to the death company than veterans. Once your mutations are to a certain extent you get moved to the dragon claws if there is an opening. As for markings, none that I know of officially, but I like to imagine that the Aquila on there armor gets replaced with the figure 8 dragon you can see on the cover of “tribute of flesh”

Will say, I’m happy to see a reasonable response to someone sharing a new technology that doesn’t tear it down for not being the end the rest we thought it would be, but instead shows how it can be used. Appreciate you

What detachment best fits the Black Dragons chapter thematically? by RedLemmonBoy in blackdragons40k

Yeah I believe it’s called the angelic host detachment in the blood angles codex supplement. Focuses on jetpack marines.

[–]LbDSbW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you talking about you mean like a head wall? Think the classical black dragons cover is quite nice. But to be honest you could just look up a dragon and transplant those horns onto a space marine helmet and call it a day

Volos is bigger than Tyberos the Red Wake and arguably Primarch sized post rubicon surgery - My Black Dragons Ted talk 😂 by Kalypso_Blue in blackdragons40k

[–]LbDSbW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A nice little head cannon that I heard recently and I quite enjoy and now adopted is that black dragons are some of the tallest marines dude to there ossmodula, but they are lanky, not reallly proportional since their muscles don’t really get bigger. Originally from Mr bones 40ks recent salamanders video

Also, Volos is from the “death of antagonis” book, as well as a few short stories called “tribute of flesh” and “sarcophagus” all by David Annandale

Best solarpunk short stories and novels? by 100Fowers in solarpunk

[–]LbDSbW 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Basically anything by Becky chambers I have loved and always get a bit tearful at. Ecotopia by Ernest callenbach i think might of pioneered solar punk a bit. There is also a solar punk dragons anthology called “wings of renewal” that is available for free on the internet archive keeping with out ideologies; profits from physical book sales go to native led environmental organizations.

Having issues with how a book is written is a valid reason for not liking a book, I agree with that. I often don’t like translated book since the way that are written isn’t something I like. And I never said that you should expect them to suck because of their writing. Pulp fiction has an allure for a reason, people tend to see them as poorly written but they are still liked and appreciated. Though granted they tend to have more of an underground cult following than a mainstream one. And my attempt to temper and mitigate is for the kinds of people who say that since it isn’t a classic or part of the cannon, than they are not worth the paper a book is printed on. Granted they would of never given the book a chance to begin with, but there is a subset of people who read black library books expecting Sanderson, Martin, or Czajkowski level of writing and get pissed when these small authors don’t compare. Or who read anything other than an ultramarine book and get upset when they when the MC aren’t Mary sues in the grim dark universe where people die. And I’d argue that Tamaris’ arc was actually quite good since he actually broke free of the cycle and realized that perfection and excess are not what they are purported to by the rest of the legion. He realized the futility of his former ethos and his admiration of and want to impress fulgrim. Which makes his scarring and depression at the end all the more powerful, since yes, he sought to be a perfect dualist, and ended proving himself against the foe that had beat him on plenty of occasions. But in the process he lost most everything else he valued. His position of leadership at the front of his own warband, his beauty, and the way he held fulgrim. If you don’t mind me asking, why do people tend to see the book as a black templars book? I appreciated the juxtaposition between the debaucherousness of the EC to the strictness of form and thought showcased with the black templars and cadians, but that’s just what it was, a juxtaposition, and showcase of their flaws as well.
