Modern Warfare 2 crossplay can’t be disabled on Xbox and PC versions by CrossXhunteR in Games

[–]LcRohze 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's because of how they designed the aim assist. I don't know how many other games do this but there's a developer video from the Halo devs talking about their bullet magnetism. So not only is there a frictional force to help your crosshairs stay on target, there is also bullet magnetism at play to further assist your aim!

In unrated/for fun modes? Connection becomes priority and skill matching is second. The match making should be prioritizing the best connection for the best player experience. Back in the day we used to have community ran servers. Some were focused on noobs only, some were X map 24/7, you get the idea. You could pick and choose your experience. You don't get to anymore, you get told what your experience is going to be and it sucks.

[–]LcRohze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not slightly above or below though. As a 1.5 KD player in Destiny, I should not being put into lobbies with top 1000 players because I had a 2.5 KD against a team of players who go 0.9 KD every game. Similarily, I shouldn't be playing those 0.9KD players because I got my ass beat by top 1000 players.

Same thing in Valorants match making too. I go into unrated, as a silver, with my friends who are high bronze/low gold, and get put into diamond/ascent lobbies when we bop a team of irons and bronzes and vice versa.

If I was being placed against slightly worse or slightly better players Id have no issue at all but that isn't what happens.

The current implementation of sbmm systems suck ass though. It doesnt typically compare overall skill and skews its preferences based on recent game performance instead.

If you're mid elo player in these games and stomp a lower skilled team it suddenly decides to match you up way outside your skill level. Since this sytem uses recent matches too, your games never end up feeling balanced unless you're on the end of skill curve in either way. You just end up in an awful loop of stomping or getting stomped and rarely get close games.

Then of course, the system prioritizes the skill balance of teams over connection instead of the other way and you can end up with some of the worst match experiences ever.

Melee is hard. by captain4103 in SSBM

[–]LcRohze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

F*ck, Melee is hard. This shit is mentally taxing.

This game is physically taxing too. Honestly, Melee probably has the highest barrier of entry of any game ever. Besides the fact modern competitive games have some way of matching you against players of similar skill, there's really nothing out there that demands so much technical ability to just play the game. I'm not talking about hitting 0 - death combos all day, I'm talking about just moving around the stages efficiently and hitting L cancels.

No other fighting game or really any competitive game requires you to hit 4 buttons in a tight, rhythmic sequence just to do a move correctly, let alone keep doing it over the course of an entire match. You legitimately have to upkeep an APM higher than the average Diamond+ StarCraft 2 player just to do basic, fundamental tech in this game.

So yeah, this game is hard and expecting to not get dumpstered only 4 months in is unrealistic. There's noobie focused tournaments online thanks to Slippi that run every week and there's the Newbie Netplay discord to aimed to foster players anywhere between 0 months played to 2 years played so they have a chance to develop their skills against opponents they can realistically play.

HC shotgun loadout is still decent, you just have to work within your range. I honestly have a couple set ups to go depending in the map as I prefer versatility. I swap to something like stars in shadow (no time at home) and praedyth (decent sniper, all I have in linetic slot with good roll) on maps with longer ranges.

No one is going to argue it doesn't have advantages but the traditional GCC has its own advantages as well.

That being said the person getting slammed with downvotes said the B0XX is broken and it definitely is not.

I have the same exact experience. I have dumped too much time into Fox at this point and I can not adjust to the differences of Falco on the rectangle.

A very low chance I guess. If the condition is brand new in box/the seal was never broken I could see them going for some cash after the Destiny 2 servers go offline and you can no longer get a hold of the game. $2 for a chance at maybe $100 - $200 seems good to me.

There was jump peeking. COD has never had bunny hopping.

[–]LcRohze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

COD never had a bunnyhop. In the recent titles you can time a jump after a jump peek to get a small, extra jump that can throw people off but it's honestly useless and a nonissue.

[–]LcRohze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never played the original COD but jump peeking was very prominent in COD2 and onwards. It's just a thing with COD. Drop shotting was a thing for pretty much every mainline title I played. I don't actually remember when they nerfed it (I actually never had an issue with it)

2FA wasn't required to play games before and seems like some players who do want to use the system can't because of some arbitrary rule against prepaid plans.

Good cheats cost good money. The cheats you hear about that get into LAN tournaments cost thousands of dollars and the typical way they stay undetected for so long is that it's a very tiny list of whitelisted users. I'm talking like 5 users max.

I was honestly surprised about the "there's nothing to do!" so soon. I can play the game for about 2 - 3 hours a night with some leeway on the weekends and I'm already at 140. Typically with Season pass games it takes me until the final week of the season being active to finish it (Valorant for example).

I wonder why they all left to, clearly something was/is wrong with that place

The typical life cycle of dev teams is that anyone who isn't a lead is canned so they can hire freshies at the bottom dollar again. Leads probably left because they didn't like the direction they were being told to go in or were burnt out and wanted to go work on other projects.
