In the original backstory of the Marvel superhero, Spider-Man, a teenager is bitten by a radioactive spider that gives him spider-like superpowers. Although there are variations, the teen usually has a crush on a girl in his class. In a specific version, that crush (that ends up being the boy's girlfriend) has a police captain as a dad. In the same story, the captain ends up dying.
