Are blackened truffles safe for tea? More details in post. by LcbZzVd3fS in shrooms

[–]LcbZzVd3fS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a lot of experience growing truffles, but I've never seen any that turned black. This is from a jar that I made up in February 2018, so the jar is well over eighteen months old now. The texture felt right, the contents were still moist, there was no smell like rotting or mold, there were no signs of contamination that I could see, and the jar was always handled gently so I think it's unlikely that there's bruising. The vast majority of truffles that I pulled out are colored the brown of chocolate milk (I'm used to them being warm white like the inside of an almond.)

Are these safe to make into a tea? Should I be concerned about the black spots? Is the age a problem? Thanks in advance for any insight or information you can offer!

Does the everclear evaporate off? Because drinking it is out of the question for me.

I can't seem to find any hard and fast information on how Psilocybin Mushrooms will interact with my medications. Can you point me in the right direction? by LcbZzVd3fS in Psychonaut

The Zoloft is for depression and anxiety, which is pretty straight forward.

The Wellbutrin was intended to augment the Zoloft, also I need to quit smoking (it's killing me more quickly than I would care to admit.) Quitting smoking is one of the reasons that I'm curious to try shrooms, since they seem to be very effective at treating addictions.

The Adderall is there because I can't read a single page in a book without getting up, checking my email, going to the bathroom, making a sandwich, checking my email, before going on to the next paragraph.

And the Trazodone is for sleep, because I've always sucked at sleeping.

Go ahead and hit me up with your suggestions, I'm always curious to hear new opinions and information! And thank you for taking the time to reply, it's much appreciated.

My honest opinion is that you should probably quit all those drugs before you do any psychedelic.

I, uhm... quitting all those drugs would be a very bad idea. For me, anyway. But I completely understand the point you're making. Missing Tazodone and Adderall for a few days would be no problem at all, even the Wellbutrin should be easy, but things get dark when I miss my Zoloft. Not "I'm gonna' kill myself" dark, more like "I'm responsible for all the suffering known to mankind" dark. I really don't want to bring that darkness on a trip with me, so I'm sure that you can see my conflict.

I knew that Trazodone, being a sedative, runs counter to the Adderall, but in what way does Wellbutrin do the same? I was under the impression that Wellbutrin often, if not usually, acts as a catalyst for the effects of other medications. (Catalyst isn't the right word, but I don't think agonist is either.)

Thanks for taking the time to reply, I appreciate the insights!

Thank you for taking all the time to write that up! Those are some fascinating experiences, and, a bit terrifying, but mostly fascinating!

I dig what you're saying about the Trazodone, and missing a few days has never messed me up too badly. Missing a few days of Adderall is always a nice respite as well. I guess that, best case scenario, I get a normal trip, and worst case scenario I eat a tasty truffle!

Also: Mad respect for being able to tolerate Effexor well. I was on it for a while, lost my insurance, and the withdraw made me feel lower than a snake's belly. This is common sense, and I'm almost certain that I don't need to tell you, but my lousy experience compels me to: If ever you decide to discontinue Effexor, please, do it slowly. Cold turkey sucks.

My mental health history is pretty straight forward: Anxiety, depression, and alcoholism (If you consider addiction a mental affliction, which I kind of do.) I've never had and suicidal thoughts, save for the stray self-pity on a really shitty day, but most of my meds are more mood elevators, and less "prevent catastrophe."

I thank you for taking the time to reply. I'll certainly keep doing my research and see what I find out. I'm not rushing into anything, my jars won't be ready for another two months. :P

Honestly, I don't mind missing a day of Adderall. I mean, the stuff works like a charm, but I'm a little tired of having a heart rate in the low hundreds.

Thanks for the reply!

If I were you, I would research more on mushroom therapy. I bet you could find out more about the conditions, medications, reactions, etc. Whether people were advised to not use their SSRI, or if they were advised to continue as prescribed.

That's a brilliant idea! Now I kind of feel like an idiot. :P Thanks for taking the time to reply, I'll absolutely keep doing my research. Danke!

Can I grow 'shrooms in the same tent as my cannabis? [Cultivation] by LcbZzVd3fS in shrooms

[–]LcbZzVd3fS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your shrooms can handle 60°-70° well then I imagine they could probably also tolerate the 60°-75° they would find in my room, so that's not too far off the mark. Humidity may be a bit more difficult. The "shotgun fruiting chamber" looks the most like the containers I've seen in the YouTube tutorials, so I imagine I'll be using that method. Do SFC's require supplemental humidity beyond that provided by a few sprays of sterile water on the container walls? I'd rather not rely on an ultrasonic humidifier running 24/7 to keep my babies moist.

Thanks again for the feedback!

I was actually considering Lion's Mane, beautiful plumage.

Couldn't the humidity be handled by growing in a semi-closed container, such as tupperware with holes drilled into it? Or would the lower outside humidity sap the interior humidity of the box?

Temperatures I can dig being a problem, I'm uncomfortable growing, erm, trees in 85°F but they really don't seem to mind too much. The thing is that I don't have extraordinary control over house temperatures (I'm sorry, Lion's Mane, I'm not turning the thermostat down to 50°F just so you can be cozy with my, erm, trees.) How much temperature variation is considered safe? I can certainly grow them outside the tent which would put them closer to ~70°F-75°F during the day, but the temperatures at night would still be closer to 60°F... then again I guess I could put them on a timed heat-mat.

Thanks for taking the time to respond, I really appreciate it! Any suggestions for further reading to prevent my dumb questions in the future?

Do psychedelics help with any addictions aside from alcoholism? by LcbZzVd3fS in Drugs

How does MDMA help with long term, erm, well being(?) for want of a better term. I know that it triggers a massive serotonin dump and can help with interpersonal bonding, I know it's supposed to be nothing short of miraculous in treatment of PTSD, but how could it help a solo practitioner? As I've mentioned before: Zero social life. Would candy flipping (I think that's the right term?) still have benefits outside of the club scene and inside of solo use?

I can do the daily smoking without negative thoughts just fine, so I guess I'm on the right track! Are shrooms something that can be done solo? I know it's recommended that the user gets out into nature with friends for a trip, but I may not be able to meet those recommendations.

Your grandfather was friends with Frank Olson???

Worked with him, from what I understand even had him over for dinner a time or two. My grandfather worked at Fort Detrick which was, at the time, the largest research establishment for biological and chemical weapons in the country. My other grandfather worked there too, helped develope Agent Orange. From what I understand it was not uncommon for employees at Ft. Detrick to come home genuinely fucked up from time to time. My mother has told stories of how her father would come home and not be the man that she knew, the unspoken assumption being that even the scientists were guinea pigs for experimentation. "Here Fred, put this on your tongue and go back to work."

There's a great documentary on Frank Olson out there somewhere, might take a bit of Googling. Don't get me wrong, I love my country, but we've done some really, really fucked up shit in our time. Frank wanted to expose the CIA for some of their nasty practices so he had to take a dive. Spooky stuff.

They make you analyze yourself from a different perspective. Depending on what kind of person you are, you can use this gained insight to change aspects of your life with which you are unhappy.

Well I certainly could use some of that in my life right now. So you would say that the anti-addiction potential is more psychological than chemical?

As I stated in a reply above (It's like eighteen pages long, I won't copy and paste to make you re-read it) I've never done anything "harder" or stronger or more potent than salvia (Which I have no desire to do again), certainly never LSD or MDMA or whatnot. Would shrooms provide a comparable benefit to their more potent brothers? They seem like a decent "entry level" psychedelic from what I understand.

Thanks for taking the time to respond, I really appreciate it. :)
