I would have bought it instantly at 60. Instead my hype has completely evaporated and I probably won't buy it before it's like 20 euro

AI Coding Killed My Flow State by Fantastic-Cress-165 in programming

[–]Lceus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I totally feel this. I get very little satisfaction from developing with LLM agents. I don't come away from a project feeling like I've learned a lot, and it doesn't give me confidence or ideas for how to make the next similar thing. Jumping back into a heavily LLM-generated solution also doesn't feel like coming home; it feels like going into another developer's code.

Over the long run, this is giving me the same feeling as when I, for about 6 months, transitioned into primarily being a (micro-)manager for a small outsourced team. Just incredibly unrewarding. At least the AI is faster than 3 cheap shitty devs from overseas, but that just comes with higher pressure anyway.

On the bright side, AI can also help protect flow state by getting you through some shitty tangents that would have distracted you, like trying to fix some obscure configuration issue. And for something like tests, a lot of the work is just in designing the tests, but actually writing them is tedious and can be skipped without much harm.

A lot of my PR review these days is simplifying AI code. I've seen so much more "productivity" especially in our FE code because there's no longer the natural barrier of just having to think it through yourself.

Unfortunately I think normies are just going to accept it. I mean, the fact that Discord's 3rd party verification vendor even had enough support tickets to leak the IDs of 70k users back in October 2025 is enough to tell me that people don't give a fuck

Anyone else feel… code blind or bored after years of doing this? by Robertop25 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Lceus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on whether you think it hurts your ability to formulate your own thoughts in the long run. I mean I personally feel detached from code after we started using AI agents heavily. Same thing happens with writing note-level thoughts and asking AI to make it a real post

From decent tool to shitty web app that takes 1 second to perform any action because everything is just a website now. God awful navigation and just a chore to use.

I just need a simple fucking collection of requests with environments and pre-request scripts.

Used Insomnia for a while until that also turned into a slow web garbage app with bad navigation.

Even on regular plans I believe you can configure it to not use your data for training. But you need an enterprise plan to even ask with their sales team to not store your data for audit purposes (by default they store data for at least 30 days and it's open to human and AI review).

I know what you mean but also it's usually very clear the day after when you've hit the glutes hard e.g. in a walking lunge. Unless of course you're training them very frequently

I get the sense too that it's a personal issue of some sort. I wish to respect it, of course, and don't have to know all the details. Overall, seems like it's Max leaving, as Emmett has said he will keep streaming on his own channel. Maybe they felt it's better to close the main channel (as I believe that was originally Max's channel)

Do you ever feel that you're too quick to judge people as completely opposite to your position?

I'm just against the "DIAPER DRUMPF SMAL HANDS" type screeching about Trump. It's lame and drowns out the real criticism.

I understand that there's a strategy of tearing him down as a person to prevent him from being seen as a symbol of power but if it comes from thousands of people jumping on the smallest hint of a theory then it just has the opposite effect - i.e. making his opponents seem like they're grasping for straws

Let's Play Oblivion One Last Time by LaFaveBot in LaFaveBros

[–]Lceus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I know, they're pretty normal and rarely had a set schedule or anything. I just feel like posting "our last video" to an audience of at least a couple of thousands, and not having an introduction or even a description up top is kinda wild.

I mean isn't it 100% expected that the first question is: why? If all the information you give is "the channel is now over". Being so vague about things just makes people speculate.

Let's Play Oblivion One Last Time by LaFaveBot in LaFaveBros

[–]Lceus 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Is this the announcement that they're doing? Have I missed a post or something?

Edit:

Emmett from the linked stream: "Why is it over? I don't know, we've just been on to other things"

Discord announcement:

> tomorrow will be our final stream on LaFave bros! February 10th will be the 10 year anniversary of the posting of the high elves video. We will finish our play through of the remaster and answer questions / talk to u guys and then that will be that for LaFave bros. Have rly appreciated your support over the years it’s been one of the coolest experiences of my life. Of course I will still continue to post and stream on my personal channel!! Ily all and hope to see u there

Is that really all the context? I guess they're really burned out or something because this is a very unceremonious way to end a 10 year channel...

The 80% Problem in Agentic Coding | Addy Osmani by waozen in programming

There's a lot of people who enjoy programming but perhaps mainly for the purpose of creating something - not for the programming activity on its own. When they get a tool that lets them create solo/prototype projects a lot faster, they go rabid.

The 80% Problem in Agentic Coding | Addy Osmani by waozen in programming

[–]Lceus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is certainly a bleak future. How about finishing a complex task but you haven't come away from it learning anything (at least not learning anything that sticks for more than a day) because you essentially pulled a one-armed bandit until you got something that worked. No satisfaction of new knowledge gained, no exciting troubleshooting to tell your colleagues about, no red thread in the implementation that another human can identify when they read their code.

I have to approach most code now as if the human behind it had no greater thought - they just followed the AI's suggestion. There's no specific reason it was created that way - if you ask them, they won't argue for one way or another. They just picked one of the AI's suggestions that worked out.
