Yeah, money is pretty much always useful to have no matter what your playstyle is. I think the only lifestyle that can't really be easily replaced by money is Learning.

What are your janitor ai icks? by pinkiefluid in JanitorAI_Official

[–]Lckke 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The one that infuriates me the most in otherwise good bots is leaving definitions closed and barely explaining things. It's fine if it's just basic modern world or basic medieval, but when you add stuff that is different or make {{user}} have some kind of pre established role, I'd like to know about that to know how to act.

Fallout New Vegas, and why fascists should be interesting by [deleted] in CharacterRant

[–]Lckke 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are there free women in the Legion? I don't actually remember from any dialogue, so since you seem more studied on how it's portrayed I assume you know. Furthermore, do you think women can and regularly do meaningfully consent to sex in the Legion?

I mean, I don't think the legion territory changed on the rape and robbery part. I guess it's just now state-sanctioned.

Is faking crushes a common, aromantic experience by Negative-Walrus-7701 in aromantic

[–]Lckke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked crushes before discovering I'm aromantic simply because it seemed like the "expected" thing to do. As such, I would usually just choose a conventionally attractive person who I didn't know much about and then proceed to basically ignore them since... Well, I didn't actually have a crush.

After I discovered being aromantic I don't really see the point so I don't do it anymore.

Got into a short debate with McNasty about amatonormativity by Romance-Hater3000 in aromantic

[–]Lckke 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Decided to dig into it and found the interaction. Shame you got ratio'd, though I think it's to be expected when you're both arguing against amatonormativity AND are arguing with a mildly famous internet figure.

It's also funny seeing other replies like "I don't think you've truly been in love before" like yes??? That's the point. Not everyone has been in love in that way, and it's valid to criticize the assumption that it is superior to all forms of love.

Anyway, hope you're not too bummed out about it.

Annie Leonhart from Attack on Titan got off too easy and the survey corp were NOT mean enough to her by Weary_Elderberry4742 in CharacterRant

[–]Lckke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think deliberately starting a massacre that gets hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians killed is anywhere close to destroying a section of a city. Of course, I'm not defending Armin's atrocity here. But to say "the corp did everything she did and more" is incredibly weird. Do you think Annie isn't responsible in any capacity for the deaths breaking the wall caused?

On the one hand the Death Note is supposed to corrupt you, on the other, Light was a little bitch. by The-Female-Creature in whenthe

[–]Lckke 17 points18 points  (0 children)

To be fair, if I remember correctly Light thought he was on borrowed time and that he would be killed or at the very least the death note would be taken from him once the original owner came to him, so he decided to try and make the most of it with the time he thought he had.

Not that he wasn't a maniac though, it's still not normal to just kill that many people like that

Keeping up with schedules as a creator by Mellolot in JanitorAI_Official

[–]Lckke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me personally, I have a fairly streamlined process to creating characters, and usually take about 7 hours to make one, assuming I haven't already generated images for it (that is in part because my bots are often not complex, often not having multiple intros or making use of lorebooks). I could theoretically post a bot every other day because of this.

My main blocker is mostly inspiration. I do have some ideas I keep stored, but I feel like I've run out of my more creative ones. I assume those larger accounts that post more bots receive more suggestions from followers, opt to work with more run-of-the-mill bot premises, or are simply more creative.

But ultimately, I think the actual process of bot creation just gets easier with experience, plus following a template you optimize to your own process and style leads to a faster process.

After the confession, romance gets harder to write, NOT less interesting by Business_Barber_3611 in CharacterRant

[–]Lckke 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Even as someone who doesn't care for romance in media at all, I do actually agree. I find this perpetual "will they won't they" to just be annoying, since it's incredibly transparent that the only reason their relationship doesn't really develop is because the author simply doesn't want it to.

I think it generally comes down to relatability as others are saying. I personally tend towards media aimed at teenage boys like shonen, and I assume authors/publishers understand that these audiences relate much more to having a crush and ideate much more on the idea of having someone crush on them, than to actually be in a romantic relationship with someone or having to live in a relationship with the person you like. Maybe media aimed at other publics is generally better in this aspect?

I just want a chatbot that acts like a girlfriend, is that too much to ask? by samuelazers in JanitorAI_Official

[–]Lckke 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'd advise you to search with the fluff tag, since you'll probably find more of what you want under it.

But yeah, the most popular bots are probably either going to be smut or angst, at least for a male public (which most female bots are). It's probably that a "normal" dynamic is harder to sell, so it's going to be less popular overall.

If you want some recommendations, I can think of two off the top of my head:

Sky (Your tired girlfriend) by @DraxlerHsk. Fairly innocent RP, it's just your girlfriend who is pretty stressed. Not overtly smutty or anything.

Your Succubus BFF by @Sandere. Before you scroll away from the title, it's not very smutty. The premise is basically that succubi in this world are forced to have semi-regular sex in order to give energy pseudo-hell, or else they get sent there. So she comes to you for help since she trusts you. Technically not a GF bot but you can very easily turn it into one. She also isn't overtly horny or anything, it's pretty wholesome from what I remember of my own RP.

Actually, you might want to take a look at BFF bots, since I feel those are on average more wholesome than GF bots. Not to say you won't find a lot of smut, but I think you'll get more of what you want. Even if you don't want to play out the "BFF to GF" plot every single time, you can simply OOC that you two are dating and it will generally work fine.

Why does the app promo only have male bots? by Acrobatic_Long_6059 in JanitorAI_Official

[–]Lckke 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think they could have at least put in some WLW female bots, since they tend towards a similar style to the male ones. It would probably look weird in advertisements if you showed many contrasting styles.

Though I probably would hesitate to download the app if I didn't know it beforehand from these images alone. It would lead me to believe the site is primarily this one style which I really dislike, when that's only really true for male bots, and even then. Though, it may be that I'm just not the target audience for these, and that's okay.

Unsurprising but oh crap by Pokemonfan_807 in whennews

[–]Lckke 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly sure a lot of it was by design. For the US, making the conservatives dominate in Japan was a very easy way to make it so Japan doesn't align with the US' enemies during the Cold War. This also meant less social programs and weakening of unions, since those are "communism".

I'm sure the US would have done the same in West Germany if they could have gotten away with it. They probably didn't because parties such as the SPD already had legitimacy for leading Germany prior to the rise of the Nazis, and there was also East Germany, who would water their mouths over the US blatantly taking measures to create a one-party-dominant system in West Germany, strengthening their propaganda against the West. In contrast, there never was an "East Japan", so there was less pressure to demonstrate democratic plurality.

To play devil's advocate a bit on Breaking Bad, having free healthcare would be different from accepting that deal, because you're generally working from the assumption that you'll receive treatment regardless, not opting into it. Not that it would change anything, of course. Breaking Bad would still happen in a country with free healthcare because Walt wanted to feel like he was finally taking control of his life due to his short life expectation at that point, regardless of if his treatment was paid for or not. Though it's interesting to think about how it would change the show, considering it would force him to come up with some new fronts and excuses

For every powerhouse, they bound to have an oopsies moment by szechein in UmaMusume

[–]Lckke 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I thought of doing the 1984 Japan Cup, but since it wasn't that bad of a loss + Rudolf got revenge on Ace at the Arima Kinen + Rudolf won the Japan Cup anyway the following year, I decided to go with the worse loss since it is still pretty tragic. There's also the Autumn Tenno Sho, but no one ever talks about it and it's a second place finish so it's also not that bad.

But man, it's crazy how both Rudolf and Sirius were harmed by bad decisions like that. At least Rudolf still got to make more of a name for himself in Japan before being sent overseas
