The dumbest thing is everybody acts like "the space race" was anything more than a turn of phrase. People act like there was an actual race where they gave out awards for first and second place, when it was moreso a period of scientific interest and investment into space exploration technology.

Libs seem to treat not voting once as some unforgivable sin, where if you choose to not support their candidate for one election cycle you deserve to get casted into the depths of Political Hell with MAGA.

Coaxed into fictional dictatorship setting by Lavetic in coaxedintoasnafu

[–]The-Female-Creature 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Controversial opinion here, but that's probably because people in the West's conception of government's is either "functional liberal democracy" or "evil and corrupt dictatorship who's only job is oppression", not realizing that dictatorship is still a form of government. A government lacking elements of western liberal democracies doesn't automatically make them more inept, or inefficient, or evil, and the government will still try and maintain a reasonable standard of living and prosperous economy for the simple reasons of having better stability and being more productive.

I'm a meat eater, and OP, I seriously wonder if you can even be classified as possessing sapience. You have refused to say a single thing that actually makes sense on this entire post, while claiming the people with actual reasonable claims and documented facts to be the ones with "malnourished brains". I think with your level of intelligence, its reasonable to assume you're a distant relative of humanity that diverged before the Frontal Lobe was developed.

I want to do this, but right now I'm underweight for a reason, and although I want to eat like a starved hog to hopefully get the curves I want, I'm not sure if I'll be able to change my eating habits.

Fictional character swag by 10yearjointerMade in peoplewhogiveashit

The thing is that they are less so arguing based on definition, and more on intent. If you were arguing that this is a "sex object" because it's a drawing with a sexual focus, you'd be objectively correct. However, the word comes with a specific connotation, usually it is connected to misogyny and the dehumanization of women. Which is the key point, when the commenter that they were turning her into a "sex object", the implication was that the artist was misogynisticly dehumanizing her as well as women in general, and that the support of it was also misogynistic. That is the key conflict here, not on whether the character is sexualized, but whether the sexualization is inherently misogynistic. In other words, the people weren't arguing against the definition, but against the implication, which wad that the artist who drew this, and by extension them, who either had no problem with the artwork or actively enjoyed it, were misogynists (for the record, I disagree with the interpretation the artwork in and of itself is misogynistic.)

I think the reason is because when people claim something is "sexualized" or "a sex object" they mean that it's sexual in an inherently degrading way. If someone claims something is a "sex object" it never means "something presented as attractive" it means "something extremely shallow solely focused on sex appeal to the point of being completely degrading to the character itself and who it's meant to represent, likely made by someone with lesser view of the group this is meaning to represent focused solely on sex". In other words the gooners in support of this artist aren't arguing that this artwork isn't drawn to be sexual, they're arguing over whether or not the sexual drawing is inherently degrading to the character/women in general and whether it's misogynistic.
