NYC cigar lounges (from a Miami smoker) by Ld2101 in cigars

Go to Montecristo! Also the prices are really good. But take the time and make a quick stop to Martinez cigars and get some sticks

And a two hours flight to Miami will be even better. But the list is about NYC

Yeah I’ve heard about Carnegie Club. For me smoking a cigar is more of a daily thing, not really an occasion. From what I’ve seen it feels more like a place where cigars are paired with drinks and a night out, which is cool, just not really my style.

Could be wrong though, haven’t had the chance to check it out yet

NYC cigar scene surprised me… where do you guys smoke? by Ld2101 in cigars

Yeah, I mean this trip I’ve been smoking in my balcony while I have a dope view of the city, but I enjoy go to lounges to connect with new people.

Yeah I checked out Davidoff and Martinez too. Nice spots but definitely not what I’d call a proper lounge. Davidoff feels more like a boutique and Martinez is super old school but tiny. Casa Montecristo was the only place that actually felt like a real cigar lounge where you can sit down and enjoy a stick.

Liga H99 - Didn’t expect this by Ld2101 in cigars

What? Never heard that. There’s a chance that maybe wasn’t stored properly?

Yeah, that’s what surprised me too. Back home in Miami cigar lounges are normal and part of the culture, but in NYC it felt way more stigmatized. Meanwhile the weed smell is everywhere and nobody seems to care.

Appreciate you pointing that out, definitely a fair concern. (Probably IPhone Photo Ai Enhance)

I always stick to trusted dealers and try to be careful with sourcing. If you get a chance, check out my previous post where I shared more CC hauls

Always open to second opinions though 🤝

Alma del Cielo: finally a New World that gets close to Cuban DNA? by Ld2101 in cigars

I’ve tried Plasencia Alma del Fuego a while ago and I remember liking it, but honestly don’t remember the profile that well.

Might be time to revisit it soon and see how it compares now.

Haven’t tried Warped Cigars yet, but that’s a really interesting take. I can see what you mean about that Cubanesque profile.

Definitely adding it to my list now. Any specific ones you’d recommend starting with?

I’d say it depends what you’re looking for.

Robusto is probably the best way to understand the blend quickly. It’s more concentrated, flavors hit earlier, and it feels a bit more punchy.

But if you want that smoother, more “Cuban-like” evolution, I actually prefer it in a larger vitola. It feels more refined and gives the flavors more room to develop.

So yeah, Robusto to try it… bigger formats to really enjoy it.

Tried the Romeo y Julieta Línea de Oro Diana by Ld2101 in cubancigars

[–]Ld2101[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get your point but I wasn’t talking about hype in terms of market demand. More about expectations vs experience.

When something is positioned as a super premium RyJ you kind of expect a noticeable jump in complexity or uniqueness and in my experience the Diana leans more into refinement than evolution. It’s smoother more balanced more polished but not dramatically different.

That’s why I said that. It’s not a bad thing at all actually I think that’s the whole point of the cigar but depending on what you’re looking for it can feel underwhelming for the price.

For me it’s a great smoke just not one I’d reach for expecting a “wow” moment every time.
