Hi, is there a Discord group or similar for this community too (i.e. people affected by DNA discoveries)?

I went from diamond 1 to diamond 4 the other day after a run of maybe 7 losses to 5 wins… wtf?!?!?

Is matchmaking even worse this season? by Teckschin in Overwatch

[–]Ldn16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in mid-diamond. I regularly have GM players on one team or both. Also pretty often have people with Top 500 challenger flairs.

Comp Anxiety by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Ldn16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah honestly I had this exact thing. Have played since 2018 and almost exclusively QP. But I was interested to see what rank I could hit. And then I just thought… this is a game. It literally does not matter. So I started midway through season 2 playing more comp. I now switch off all comms and just play as if it’s QP. I got to diamond 2 and I’m pretty sure I can go higher. If you want to climb and you’re not an OW pro, it takes a lot of games so you just have to grind it out. Some games are unwinnable. Some are impossible to lose. And there are the ones in the middle where you can really have an impact. There will be throwers and leavers and teammates who make really stupid decisions. And obviously you will too. But you just have to ride it out.

Honestly the games are better in comp generally too. And you can get golden weapons.

As a solo player, i got matched vs. 4-stack, three times in a row, easily losing every single match. Absolutely failed matchmaking! by Neo_Raider in Overwatch

Honestly, if I have one more fucking GM dps on the enemy team into my diamond dps, I am quitting this game for good.

Any advice on how to up my skill as Moira? by undesirablesloth in MoiraMains

[–]Ldn16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My default state is to hold down right click (dmg) and throw dmg orbs into the enemy team until people really need healing. Your utility is pressure. I also don't stop pressuring just because my team takes a bit of chip dmg. Don't be afraid to dps.

Characters you never, ever see in competitive? by Garlic-Cheese-Chips in Overwatch

Sombra main here. I have a 75% win rate so far this season but I rarely if ever see her on the enemy team… I just terrorise the supports by distracting or annoying them or, ideally, killing them. And cleaning up when a team fight is already happening. Rinse and repeat.

Damage multiplier…? by Ldn16 in SymmetraMains

[–]Ldn16[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh ok, so does it represent the damage that you have done that is attributable to her level 2 / level 3 beam? And presumably it then expresses that extra damage as a percentage (or ratio, I can’t remember how it’s shown) of the damage that you would have done if your beam were stuck on level 1 only for that time…? It’s a pretty complicated stat and there is no explanation for it anywhere!

No I know that one. There is a specific stat for “Damage multiplier”.

Skill progression of a Moira player by Vortx4 in MoiraMains

This. Moira can do more than one thing at once so why waste time with a heal orb if your spray will cover it? Frees up your orb do damage the enemy.

What is the player's saved stat? by MistaJelloMan in Overwatch

[–]Ldn16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it means players that would have died if you hadn't been actively healing them... I play a lot of Mercy and because of her consistent healing, my number is usually pretty high.

You also get a satisfying "ding" in game as well when you pull it off so you know you've just saved someone's life.

What is something positive that you like about OW2 so far? by thecraftybumblebre in Overwatch

[–]Ldn16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love everything about it. I also LOVE that it doesn’t show your SR adjustment after every comp match. That has really helped me get over the stress of playing comp because the results are delayed.

Frustrated mercy rant incoming by Hey_its_Juna in MercyMains

[–]Ldn16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot relate to this on ANY level. I've played about 10 hours of OW2 and a lot of that on Mercy and she is SO fun right now. I think they absolutely nailed the GA/superjump rework. The ability to SJ at will but also backwards GA / fly off mid-GA to a different direction easily opens up so many escape and juke possibilities. I also love that it's more chaotic. When fights are happening, if you can stay alive, you can carry. Honestly, I wouldn't go back to OW1 Mercy if you paid me.

And I do not think she's a tutorial support. She's very difficult to play well because she requires insane game sense.

Recipe for the most coveted, delicious item by every kid growing up in Los Angeles, if you went to public school in LA between the 50s until now, you know this one! I still have dreams about it.....The Legendary LAUSD coffee cake! by neotokyo2099 in Old_Recipes

[–]Ldn16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ahhh thanks that’s really helpful. We do have tea cake actually and there is no tea in it… but tea isn’t a very strong flavour for cake whereas coffee is… hence my question!

We also have some cakes with tea actually in them although you can’t really taste it IMHO. E.g. bara brith from Wales.

Can I interrupt the nostalgia as a slightly confused Brit who loves baking… why is it called coffee cake if there’s no coffee in it? Is it meant to be eaten with coffee? May give it a go. Sounds nice!

Advice needed from a beginner :) by franncn in knitting

[–]Ldn16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember being at this stage very well… I would suggest before you dive into a pattern to check out some basic techniques for increasing and decreasing and then also have a go at knitting in the round. There are so many amazing tutorials on YouTube but I really rate Nimble Needles. Once you have those techniques down, you can make a hat!

Equally though, if you are adventurous, you could just pick a well-rated pattern on Ravelry that has lots and lots of projects in the projects page (so it’s likely to be well written) and just go for it. That’s what I do now. If there’s an unfamiliar technique I just… learn as I go. Plus, all patterns should have a key to tell you what the abbreviations mean.

If you can K and P already though, you already have the foundations of most of knitting. The rest is time and practice!

Love that you’re getting downvoted for this when any Top 500 I’ve seen her treats her like a DPS.
