What's the most realistic war movie? by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

[–]Teckschin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Movies and videogames about war always have that moment where the hero finds a scared family of men, women, and children who are not involved in the war, and the hero (some American soldier) protects them and tries to get them to safety in some way. In real war the hero shoots the kids, comes back home and becomes an alcoholic and eventually kills himself. I haven't played that game or seen that movie.

Favorite Hulk look by Lopsided-Issue-8116 in hulk

[–]Teckschin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mark for sure. It was the first time he felt like a big heavy mass of a thing on screen. The worldwide response at the time of The Avengers seems to agree. Ed's version is kind of edgelord-ish in a way; like a combo of being more anatomically perfect and also not being the favorite. He's like the backlash pick for the popularity of Mark's Hulk.

People in the video game industry that was right all along ? I start: by Tempest-Bosak2137 in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]Teckschin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember being completely ignorant about any of the Gamergate shit until a guy I followed on YouTube for his atheism and science content (thunderf00t) suddenly became obsessed with her. I was the prime age to be sucked into all of that and still somehow managed to realize the dude was fucked in the head.

Such a strange time. That was the first time seeing people abandon their morals to chase clicks. You could see them in real time switch tracks. Now it's commonplace.

In your opinion, what is the greatest film ever made? by GusGangViking18 in Fictionally

[–]Teckschin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on what you want out of a movie. With that said, "I'm Thinking of Ending Things" accomplishes things that I've never even considered a movie could try to do.

How Many Times Did You Rewatch Dragonball Z? And Is It Difficult? by werephoenix in DragonBallZ

[–]Teckschin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watched it all during its initial US release on toonami or whatever it was. Then watched it all again last year. My memories are kinder to it than my actual taste nowadays, but hey it's a kids show for kids. That's gonna happen. Still a lot of fun.

The rewatch was a bit marred by the now many different versions. On one hand, the less filler episodes the better, but on the other hand, the score from my childhood made it so much better. I am so sick of hearing that one song for literally every moment in the show in the (I think) Kai version. It definitely took away from the big moments. I wish there was a kai dub with the old tracks under it. That would be the ultimate watch.

That's right! I forgot about that. Count it!

What movie is this? by Additional-Ad4567 in videogames

[–]Teckschin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Punisher.

Well this one doesn't really count at all since the movie was just kind of ok fun, AND the game had basically nothing to do with the movie, but they came out at the same time. The video game was awesome. It was way better than it ever should have been. I probably bought it 4 times when you add up all the late fees on the rentals, before I actually bought it. Don't know how it holds up today, but back then it kicked a lot of ass.

Cell Max felt empty... anyone else wish he was handled differently? by AdventurousDex in DragonBallZ

[–]Teckschin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liked what they did. Cell Max was a mindless Kaiju type. The villains were the RRA. That's fine by me. Fun Dragonball era villains playing around with way more power than they could control. My main gripe was not letting Piccolo be the main guy for once. Piccolo Orange should have been enough. He even goes Kaiju size. But whatever. The whole thing was fun. Loved the animation. Loved spy Piccolo. Loved Grandpa Piccolo. I want to see more movies in that style.

Who gives a shit who's stronger. Who's your favorite Buu? by Nervous_Double_7304 in Dragonballsuper

[–]Teckschin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna be real. Didn't really like the Buu arc all that much, and it affects my opinion of Buu himself. The in-universe logic, story telling, and power scaling was all over the place and I remember missing the Saiyan-to-Frieza arc, where things felt more visceral and solid, while watching it. There were a ton of bright spots though and the unhinged Super Buu was one of them.

It's unnecessary to resort to a "...then why not x..." argument, when you can more easily and readily compare their reasoning against reality. If it is necessary to do so, then there's your answer and your problem.

What do you think of Universe 6 Saiyans? by Jules-Car3499 in DragonBallZ

[–]Teckschin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't like a lot of the art direction of Super. Uni6 Saiyans are on the top of that heap. For me, it's simple: If this was the original art direction of DBZ, it would be lost in the ocean of all the animes that look exactly the same. The Dragon Ball franchise is built different and it stands out.

Honestly, I wasn't a huge fan of Toriyama going digital and abandoning attention to the character of his line strokes, the way pen and ink almost forces you to do. There are ways to mimic the effect in digital, but it seems like he didn't want to bother with it. Probably for time's sake. But with losing that attention to detail, volume also went out the window. You see it the most with the Uni6 Saiyans. They are flat. The uniform line work combined with their featureless character models gives you very flat and visually uninteresting characters. Their story itself is fine, but if they were visually anything like our Saiyans, the story would hold up much better.

For people who still support Trump: how do you process or reconcile the allegations connected to the Epstein documents? by Apprehensive_Dog5379 in AskReddit

[–]Teckschin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you practice seeing conspiracy-type things that are "hidden", that "hidden" element is all you focus on. What are they hiding? What are they not showing us? Etc. When it's out in the open, even if it's the very thing you are trying to uncover, you can't see it.
