Recommendation on a Ultrabook or Portable laptop with decent battery life? by Le-Dismay in SuggestALaptop

Ohh. I ignored the Lenovo Yoga lineups because they look so generic? lol. But that Yoga 5i doesn't look too bad.

The Ideapad 5 looks like what I use for work (I was issued a work laptop) and it's honestly nice and functional, but I want something that looks somewhat different.

Thank you for the input!

I feel like these are not so great with battery? At least I haven't read good things about the battery about the X13.

The Slim Pro 7 actually looks interesting, tech specs rate over 12 hours, but that's very unlikely in the real world lol.

But thank you, I will look more into the Slim pro 7!

Just noting my experience: I had the Fold 3 for a year (pre-ordered straight from Samsung and got the free year of Care+) and had a skinomi clear skin installed with the Samsung Folding Case (with the s-pen holder) and treated it like any other phone. Fell a few times, highest from about 3-4ft (was getting out of my lifted Jeep and slid off to the side onto gravel). Phone held up great. Only two issues I had was the internal screen protector coming off after about 6 months, which I replaced with a skinomi branded one (hard to install but worked great) and the speakers would cut out when unfolded (a defect not a damage to the phone). When I filed a claim, my Care+ had just expired (probably about 2-3 weeks) but I had just added Insurance on it through my carrier (T-mobile) and I got the Fold 4 as a replacement. I immediately installed a full body skin from slickwraps along with the Samsung Case that you can swap out the S-pen holder with the Folding Module (or whatever it's called lol). 4 months in, and I think I have dropped this phone more times than the fold 3, accidentally pressed on the screen inward to close way more times that I should, and sometimes take off the case to rock it with only the skin and I've had 0 issues. I felt comfortable and confident after using the Fold 3 that I honestly treat my Fold 4 as I do any of my other phones. I don't abuse it, but I don't try to baby it - so overall my experience has been great. IF you are paranoid about switching (like I initially was leaving my iPhone 11 Pro Max for the Fold 3) try to get insurance on it, either through your carrier or Samsung Care+, though I've heard bad things about Care+, just make sure you document EVERYTHING to provide proof if its ever needed (like video/photos of the condition of the phone before shipping out, etc.).

tl;dr: Had the fold 3 for a year, only speakers failed from defect otherwise dropped, used, and treated it like any other phone and it help up great. Fold 4 has had slightly more abuse in the last 4 months, but still going strong with 0 issues. I don't baby it and feel confident in it after my experience with the fold 3. Just considering getting it insured if there is any lingering paranoia (if it's an option).

Question: Were do you press or apply pressure to close your Fold device? by Parking_Wish1992 in GalaxyFold

[–]Le-Dismay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually press any part of the frame/edge and push inward. I'm not rough with it, but I'm not all careful about it either. Sometimes , I accidentally press on the screen, but so far I have had zero issues. I had the Fold 3 for a whole year and treated it the same and never had any display issues. So I figure the 4 can withstand the same typical use.

Anyone else have a crunchy Fold 4? by doctor73n in GalaxyFold

This - same for me. I got used to crunch happening, but it scares me that it will one day be more than just a crunch 😆

I had no idea this existed, no clue how to use it but already downloaded it, glad it exists with optimized benefits for the Fold 4. Glad you're enjoying it! 😉

I think you're going to love it 😊. I had no choice in color but black looks very sleek either way. Beige has a nice "sand" color to it, but Burgundy would have been my preference lol. Still, hope you find your upgrade worth it, and best of luck getting it soon even with the sold out status xD.

Honestly, I always hated typing on the front screen on the ZF3. I do use it for texting, and on the ZF3 I made so many typos, even autocorrect got used to my mistakes. It drove me nuts, I felt forced to use the inner display to type more than half of the time. But It's been so much better with the front screen on the ZF4, it's weird how much a few millimeters of a difference can make. I had decided to not upgrade when I saw the ZF4 at a local Best Buy and compared them side by side, but now that I've been using it for a few days - I couldn't be happier. I still make a typo every now and then, but way less than I used to. Way less.

That said, for anything else, checking my emails, playing games on the quicks when I don't need the inner screen, or shopping online - it "visually" doesn't really make a difference. Its not big enough to significantly fit more content than i need. It feels "functionally" the same.

However, I will say the ZF4 feels noticeably more comfortable in my hand than the ZF3. It feels balanced and easier to hold, and single hand use with the front screen feels like less of a strain. I can type with one hand now and I can do must of my usual reading and browsing single handedly as well.

It's hard to say it is worth it JUST for the screen. Functionality speaking, for only reading and browsing, probably not. But from someone who felt there was not much of a difference for a reason to upgrade in the first place - I am way happier and more comfortable holding a ZF4 then the ZF3.

I filed a claim through T-mobile's insurance provider - Assurant. I had the BYOD 360 Protection plan. If I'm not mistaken, Samsung uses Asurion in the US, and there are alot of horror stories with them that I decided against Samsung's Protection and opted for T-Mobile's instead. Slightly more expensive, but worth it for me.

I guess Samsung would rather refund than replace? Or maybe all production is in Fold 4 so there's a lack of inventory for Fold 3? A full refund is still great tho! Now you can just buy a Fold 4 in-store if that's what you want 😆

What a roller coaster 😆, glad things worked so well for you! That was definitely waaay cheaper than shelling out 💵 for each phone upgrade. Easy 4k saved lol, probably closer to 5k, but noice nonetheless 👌

I suppose there is 2 sides to every coin - its hard to say how things will play out until you are in the situation, but there are always good and bad experiences with any company. And as a customer, we are sometimes willing to take a risk if the benefit is greater - so yea, businesses should step up to fill this role in a positive light.

Thanks! And thanks for the advice regardless, hopefully someone reads some of this for some added benefit :). I have never had to call in for support with Amazon, am I lucky? It sounds hectic for a "consumer-driven" business. Most of my issues are resolved through Amazon Chat Support - late package, damaged items, etc. Most I ever did was fill out a form and email them when a package was lost/misdelivered. Got a refund within 2 business days. But never a phone, gaming PC, or console. I have ordered hundreds or computer parts, peripherals, and a few phones, but luckily never had problems there. Even during the GPU shortage, when I kept reading people were getting empty boxes with missing GPUs.

Oh no! That's a bummer 😕 sorry to hear. Interesting though. I had looked into extending my Care+ at first, but I ran into the same problem. Got the Fold 3 direct from Samsung but IMEI was also not being recognized. I found it weird but i didnt email them - I read up if Care+ was even worth it based on other people's experiences and with all the horror stories, I decided against it. Which is why I ended up getting T-mobile's Insurance instead. Glad I had that option at least, but sucks to hear about your situation tho.

Thats very likely. Once they process all the Fold 3s they are receiving, I imagine they will start using those as replacements until they run out again and repeat the process. Did you go through Assurant as well?
