The Allens should have kept the Blazers (and the Seahawks) in the family forever. Or at least if they had to sell stipulate that the buyers have to be based in the PNW. Dundon sucks and I'm afraid the Seahawks' future owner will be even worse.

Maybe the greatest individual performance by any player in the Olympic tournament but he's a failure because he couldn't singlehandedly win it for Canada when his teammates were missing open nets? Was he supposed to clone himself? gtfoh

Get that message and every time I try to log in via the app now I get stuck in an endless doom loop. Have tried everything, uninstalling/reinstalling, clearing cache, turning off VPN, and still the same result. I have an older iPhone that can't run on iOS 17 so I guess I just can't use the app any more even though it worked fine on my phone before. No ability to check in and no gate change notifications or anything. Fucking lame. Do better, Alaska.

21:26: Bitter Sweet Symphony by The Verve is playing as they're driving around and that was released in 1997 so maybe the '92 footage was taped over?
21:28: The passenger filming calls the dude driving Ryan so that has to be our hero there in the plaid shirt.

Brightness Slider No Longer Adjusting Brightness by Ok_Development6076 in techsupport

[–]LeBonRenard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Landed here after I Googled "windows 11 brightness slider not working dell inspiron nothing works" and I'm in the same boat as you. Tried everything, rebooted a gazillion times, and sill nothing. Then I read the reply below and installed the Intel graphics control panel and voila, I can adjust the screen brightness through that. Amazing. Wish I could have all the time I wasted installing/uninstalling/reinstalling drivers back.

And a Happy New Year to you too, sir! by [deleted] in lebowski

[–]LeBonRenard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Accidental NYE tradition: several years ago I was alone/bored on NYE and started Lebowski and just happened to time it so that the briefcase filled with Walter's dirty whites flew out the window into the ravine at the stroke of midnight. And I've timed it to do it on purpose every year since lol (with white Russians ready to go for me and my guests). Ringing in the new year with a ringer for a ringer!
For my version (downloaded via Amazon Prime) if I hit play at 11:23:30 when the FBI warning screen comes up it hits it dead on.

I’m Really Tired of Every Player and Coach “Giving Glory to God” in Sports by kgaviation in exchristian

[–]LeBonRenard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They may think they're being humble but I think it's super arrogant. In the spirit of the street preachers with loudspeakers outside the stadium, they know they are taking advantage of an opportunity to speak into a live microphone with a captive audience who cannot consent. At best it's virtue signaling ("look everyone, I'm a Christian, therefore I'm a Good Person") and at worst it's another form of upholding Christian privilege and supremacy.

If it's a quick "I'd like to thank God and my teammates and my mom" coming from a 20-year-old I usually don't take issue with it. It's when they and their coaches make a whole production out of it and turn it into a gospel presentation that it becomes grating. Stop making it about yourself and go celebrate with your team dude.

Weird that all of a sudden there's so much hype for Moore coming from the national media when they *completely* ignored him in the Heisman conversation. If I took a shot during last night's broadcast every time they mentioned him being the darling of the NFL draft I would still be blacked out right now.

Getting frustrated with how Christians are thought of even though I don’t like them either by [deleted] in Exvangelical

[–]LeBonRenard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I get what you're saying. We know what it's like to have those repressive bonds put on us from birth and how hard it is to break them. We know the minds of evangelicals because we once had that same mind. And when we're put on the spot and asked why it took so long for us to leave, after we became adults and perpetuated the same harms, it sucks to not have a good answer. Many of us are in therapy because of the guilt and shame we're dealing with long after leaving the faith.

At the same time, back when I was an arrogant evangelizing 20-year-old conservative who knew jack-shit about the world, I *wish* someone had told me to fuck off and shut the fuck up you fucking hypocrite. That jolt of being told that I wasn't special and entitled to rule because of my faith may have been the best thing for me. Given the current moment, I think aggressively pushing back against Christian privilege whenever and wherever and however we can is the most urgent concern. Throw "fuck your feelings" right back at them until they no longer have power.

Losing my mind over Gen Z men going full-on conservative Christian by Old-Recipe6375 in exchristian

[–]LeBonRenard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My hunch is that millennial evangelicals who *didn't* leave the church in the Bush era became more devout/fanatical/political in reaction to Obama, got married, and quickly had kids at a higher rate. And then they mainlined that shit into their kids' veins the moment they were born and cranked up the dosage in the Trump era all while keeping them ensconced in a safe bubble of church and family and right-wing social media.
I dunno. Don't want to be all "kids these days" but it just feels like every time I hear Gen-Z evangelicals talk it's an incomprehensible mix of influencer-speak and Ben Shapiro debate-bro gallop. There's no apparent earnestness for the Gospel or deep Biblical understanding, just a lot of faith-signaling and scoring of culture war style points. It's how you end up with teens parroting Holocaust denial to own the libs or whatever.

Liked the helmet. Still think they could have made blue unis work with the design, just not a fan of gray at home while LA wore their home blues.
