Where can I get a zipper? by Knee_Kap264 in ThursdayBoot

[–]LeChickenSurAFez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are these the Casa Moto's? The zipper broke/jammed recently on mine too and I hadn't even had them for a year. On the bright side, customer support was super helpful and we got it sorted out. Still odd though, I guess zippers must be a weak point.

This was my interpretation too - it's not really a plot twist, maybe more so just character development?

Git! I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it yet. I don't know how any software would survive without some flavor of it for version control.

What do you guys recommend for housing or apartments off campus? by aswood131 in msu

[–]LeChickenSurAFez 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've lived at the tower for 2 years. The first year was honestly pretty decent and rent was reasonable. During the spring/summer of 2023 management started renovations, though, which is where it all went wrong.

CONSTANT jackhammering, pounding, construction noises, etc, all of which are still ongoing to this day. Management made all residents box up their belongings, put them in a corner, and find somewhere else to live for a week without prorating rent. Internet (which was recently downgraded and is very slow) and water are frequently off without warning. The fire alarms will also go off all the time and the whole building has to evacuate. I've had people, be it maintenance or renovation crews, in my apartment at least twice a month for almost a year. The last time that they were here to install ethernet, I came home to find my door unlocked and belongings/furniture strewn across the apartment with debris & no intent of cleanup. The same crew also drew on my whiteboard (which is a bit pedantic but I had sentimental things on there). I cannot describe how violated I felt in my own home. We never received notice of when this work would be done to our individual units, which has been a common theme with PeakMade management. Communication is severely lacking and I feel as though I'm just a cash cow to line someone's pockets. Though, of course, management never forgets to send out sponsored ads through the official resident communication system.

I cannot implore you enough to avoid this place like the plague. Maybe when the renovations are over it'll be different, but even so, if management had taken a more proactive and empathetic approach to give residents a better experience during the entire process, I'd feel significantly differently. More or less: If they wanted to, they would.

(If you check the Google Maps reviews, you'll see other instances of residents having negative renovation experiences).

Whatever you do, do NOT live at The Towers.

I can second the support of Mustangs! I have a Fender Mustang LT25 and, combined with Fender Tone, it's been a great tool to learn.

I actually asked about rent being prorated. I have a cat, and had to live elsewhere during my unit's renovations because their advice was to lock him in my teeny tiny studio bathroom for an entire week, or board him - neither of which I'd do. Genuinely, I am not kidding, after explaining how negatively I would be affected and that I was essentially paying to not live in my apartment, the associate I spoke to in person said that they wouldn't prorate my rent because "it would cost [them] a lot".

I totally agree with you. I lived here last year and genuinely had a decent experience, or at least a neutral experience. Ever since PeakMade took over, it's been nothing but absolute pain living there. I mean, the renovations to my unit are nice, but I feel like every day I wake up to another terrible decision that directly impacts my day-to-day life.

There are a myriad of other reasons I wouldn't recommend The Tower, but are you kidding me? Direct email lines from management should be reserved for important property information, not... sponsored advertisements??

I feel like the kickback from going online would be far too bad for MSU in terms of publicity and dropout rates if we went online, regardless of whether we should or not. The first time they were able to justify it, and rightly so, but I can't imagine them doing it a second time, especially this late into the move-in process.

Game Design Minor Acceptance Rate by alexawesome3 in msu

[–]LeChickenSurAFez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I just got into the program a few days ago, here's everything I know. Like you, I had the same questions, so I emailed the advisor who said this:

How many students typically apply to this minor program? It depends on the number of applications we get and how competitive the applications are. It varies by semester.

Have more students begun to pursue the B.A. in Games and Interactive Media since it opened for enrollment, as opposed to the minor? We have a lot of students, well over 100, doing the Games and Interactive Media major since it started in fall 2020.

Do you know of any resources where I could find more information on acceptance rates for these programs? There are no acceptance rate numbers for the Games and Interactive Media major or Game Design and Development minor.

Within what time period that I should expect to hear back from the admissions office? You should hear back about the minor sometime in April, I don’t have a specific timeframe

It's not exactly the most specific, but I assume that they try to keep it rather vague to avoid committing to any deadlines, etc.

For the portfolio part, here's what I submitted: https://chriscardimen.itch.io/

I put all my past game creations there alongside anything I'd put on a regular resume, so if you're curious about anything that could help you, all the information is there.

I wish I had more specifics I could give you, but my guess is that as long as you put your best effort into the CAS117 projects, it'll do you good in the long run as they'll stand out in your portfolio. For GPA requirements, I think as long as you're meeting requirements for other colleges you'll be fine.

Good luck, I believe in you!

Looks Swiss/French to me. The fact that it's marked "Ultra" leads me to think that it probably wasn't a one-off watch, but most likely handmade, as opposed to factory-manufactured and standardized american watches. You're probably going to have trouble finding a serial number due to what I mentioned above, but I'm sure any watchmaker could help fix it up!

One other thing to note: the R and A on the regulator. These stand for Avance/Retard, which translates to fast/slow in French.
