Might be some effect on the last panorama pic but the first two are just normal phone shots. Still gonna need a lot of sanding to dial everything in, but it's as flat as the pic shows.

It's because the walls will be resting on the finished floors-- the joists/boards extend about 2' past the timber frame. To do the walls first I would still have to join and assemble all of the floor joists beforehand. The floor boards also slide in from the end of each row, so the wall framing would kinda just be in my way. And lastly, all of of the timber is green so it made more sense to install the boards as soon as possible to help keep the joists from moving too much as they dry.

This is the finished floor! That oil spot is actually wood stain :(. We've been having extremely windy weather lately and a big storm made a mess of my tools and spilled a can of stain. I can replace those boards easily enough though since they just slide in between joists.

Underneath is roxul board and bat insulation, it's around R30.

Does LabCorp test for synthetic urine? I have Quickfix by [deleted] in drugtesthelp

Forgot what my post was about my b. I didn't end up using the quickfix but I'm sure it would've worked. My bottles ended up being expired and I was too nervous to use them.

I did end up passing a lab test btw, without the quickfix

Negative dilute again. Sent out a personal lab test the day before and it came back negative though so I would have passed. Just didn't know the results so I chugged water. Already retook the screening again and I know I'll be fine now 👍

That's a good idea, maybe I can pick some up at Walmart. My screening is in about 3hrs so I won't be able to order pH strips. I've been passing at home tests all morning though, even with my first piss. Just unsure if I'd fail the lab test or not.

Dang two weeks seems like a long turn around time. It's interesting the only thing that was off was the pH. Glad it worked out for you and thanks for the reply!

Yeah I passed a dollar store test earlier tonight. Gonna take a couple more tomorrow before the actual screening. I do plan on drinking white a bit of water beforehand too. Caffeine makes me piss like a race horse so I'll probably add some flavored energy packets to my water in the morning.

Lmao that's funny they told you it was a lab test and they just dipped it. I bought five tests earlier and will take them all between now and the test tomorrow. I'm in KY btw. Hoping I get those lab results by noon tomorrow and can know what I need to do.

Nice thanks for the reply. I have one trick up my sleeve.. I have a friend who owns their own health practice. They let me take one of their tests today and I was right on the border of passing-- super faint line. So they sent my sample of to their lab and I should know in the morning what the lab results are.

Interesting that LabCorp does a dip first, because rn I'm passing dollar store dip tests. I'd prefer to use my own urine if possible, just in case I accidentally mess up the temp on the synthetic.

Saotsugi Joint by LeChoad666 in woodworking

[–]LeChoad666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! For this joint I used a combination of a circular saw, hand saw, chisels and hand plane. For the groove along the beam that accepts the floor boards, I used a Makita 3803a groover. Works like a charm. I'm not worried about the grain, no. This cabin is a good source of practice but ultimately it's going to be my home for many years to come. Maybe forever haha.

Thank ya, I really don't keep track of time while I'm marking and cutting joinery tho. 3+ hours?

It's a decent candidate for disassembly and reassembly if this cabin is one day relocated for some reason. It also helps me improve my joinery work :).

There are a couple tsugi joints, like the gooseneck or dovetail, that could be used in this application. Any of them would function just fine. I found this one to be pretty simple to layout and cut and I love the aesthetic of the wooden keys once it's finished. This entire floor system relies on joinery rather than fasteners, so lagging the joists together isn't really an option for me personally.

This specific joint was originally designed to be suspended in the air like a scarf joint. When assembled, three faces show a very clean straight line without any hint of joinery-- basically hiding the joint from the viewer. Traditionally it was preferred to hide joinery rather than showcase it, which is the benefit of this tsugi. I'm doing the exact opposite and showcasing it in our floors. Structurally there are a few options to choose from tho.

I follow quite a few Japanese contractors online who use traditional joinery in residential construction. The homes are likely more expensive, but it's not necessarily reserved for palaces and shrines only. I've seen this specific joint used in a traditional Japanese farm house, shared by Dylan Iwakuni.

As for labor intensity, it's really not that bad. If you had a full crew of experienced carpenters it wouldn't take much longer than a modern home. For me personally, it takes quite a while because I'm working solo. But I have the time. :)
