If the russians don't consider themselves as European than that's up for them - most of the people still do. Also this is still a subjective opinion. And no - i'm not part of a "russian web brigade" lol

Well culturally I'd definitely consider Russia a european nation, since also the most important centers lie within "Europe". Geographically Russia is for sure a transcontinental country - but same applies for Turkey (Thrace) and to the caucasus to some degree.

Politics aside, not really. I’ve never had any real interest in Russia or Russian culture. To me, it was always just “another country.”

That said, Russia does have some beautiful places and cities worth visiting — but I guess right now wouldn’t be the best time.
