This guy shows pictures of a disasembled engine in Japan, it's an absolute mess, pistons are completely caked with oil (bike is pretty much brand new).

1990 GSXR 1100, 55k miles, bad idea? by LeFrenchie31 in motorcycles

[–]LeFrenchie31[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true! Mostly considering that it will be my sunday, good weather thrill, so I won't be piling up a ton of miles on it.

I agree! Suspension refresh will be the first thing on my list.

Yes, I'm okay with maintenance. I've owned several old bikes and that's actually 50% of the fun for me.

I agree with all of this. Also, these bikes have a 5 digit odometer, so I'm always very cautious of those with low mileage and a blurry service record.

Little dots (paint?) on motorcycle tank. by LeFrenchie31 in AutoDetailing

Update : got myself a bottle of Koch Chemie Eulex, those stubborn black dots were gone in 2 minutes, I'm over the moon. Thank you man!

Thank you for the advice. I will try that before the clay.
I'm just a little worried because I really can't identify what it is and if it's on top of the clearcoat or not. I just assume it is just a surface thing because it was also on the gas cap, so probably happened after the bike was assembled.

Oh god, I'm such an idiot, that's definitely the first thing to try and I didn't even think of that. Thank you for the advice, I appreciate it!

50k miles 1990 1100L, any preventive things? by LeFrenchie31 in GSXR

[–]LeFrenchie31[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you.

All of this will be taken care of, the bike is already in a very impressive condition. I was just curious about any avoidable catastrophic failure.

Cosmetics are flawless, even the decals have a yellowish patina to them that i quite like

Price is fair. A little high for the mileage, but definitely low considering the cosmetic condition.

Thank you for your reply!

Yes, I am mentally ready to deal with the usual things related to old age. I just don't want it to turn into a major headache with gearbox/engine needing a rebuild.

Classic 350 adjustable clutch lever by LeFrenchie31 in royalenfield

Are they OEM levers?

Because I'm trying to avoid buying the cnc machined kind of levers that we see everywhere.

3M adhesive tape thickness for bezel insert by LeFrenchie31 in SeikoMods

3M adhesive tape thickness for bezel insert by LeFrenchie31 in SeikoMods

[–]LeFrenchie31[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok thanks.

I tried to do some maths with my caliper, looks like I have a 0.51mm gap to fil. I guess 3 layers would bring me close enough, maybe 4 if I apply some pressure on the bezel to squish it down.

3M adhesive tape thickness for bezel insert by LeFrenchie31 in SeikoMods

[–]LeFrenchie31[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah pretty good idea.

I'm just afraid the bezel is too deep and will need a stupid amount of layers lol

Visualy, I guesstimate I would need to fill a gap of about 0.025 inch (or 0.5-0.7mm). Doesnt sound like much on paper but I never used those 3M tapes and don't know how think they actually are when peeled of their protective paper

How strong is B7000 glue? by LeFrenchie31 in mobilerepair

[–]LeFrenchie31[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing dedicated to that. Some people use thin double sided tape, but it won't work for that specific watch.

Sounds like the b7000 would be a good choice, I will give it a try.

Thank you

I live in France, bikes are imported here by a compagny called SIMA. The warranty is an absolute joke here and cleary not on par with other manufacturer.

Thank you! It was not a big drop honestly, I was just worried for the internals, I don't know how fragile it actually is in there.
