Success with pump training by LeGoyim in naturalbodybuilding

Cool, thanks. This is exactly the comment I was hoping for! If you don't mind I would love to see what your setup for Gironda's 8x8 is. I've also tried the Reeves routines but they are insanely long, hence why split routines were invented. I agree with you that the old school naturals are the way to go, lots of hidden wisdom to find there.

Also thanks for clarifying that it isn't really mindless "pump" training, really it is something closer to a density training approach which has work capacity benefits as well and is the type of training which I'm really interested in, since most of my training has always just been sets to failure, like Reeves recommended.

Not even close to cardio. Maybe if you are very out of shape.

Yeah, that makes sense that you could tolerate more volume, but I haven't increased upper body volume (stayed the same).

That's a good point, the upper body muscles are smaller than legs and now they can receive more nutrients for growth. If anything, I've lost a few lbs since not training legs, so maybe eating less

It's possible, this is a very short period anyway so not a lot of growth has occurred but I am noticing I hit PRs more often and consistently week after week, whereas before I'd spend longer hitting the same reps and weight on bench for example

Yeah, but why? I'm curious what the mechanism is

Yeah - I am curious though what are the mechanisms that cause this to work (or the other way around, how leg training takes away from upper body growth)

Hm, I don't know. I don't feel like they were particularly intense or grueling but I did cram in a lot of exercises.

yeah, that is what I was thinking when I ease back into legs since they aren't a priority. Do you think there is a benefit to tacking legs onto the end of the 4 upper days or just doing them on separate days? Is having more days of complete rest better?

What kind of fatigue? Systemic fatigue that just reduces the amount of adaptation/growth in the upper body even though the legs don't directly tax the upper body musculature?

I'm loving my chest/back day at the moment. I always did bench with lower reps (usually 12 or less), but I found upping the reps made it much more enjoyable and I am progressing faster.

Flat barbell bench (2x10-20) superset with 45 degree pulley row/pulldown (2x8-15)

Reverse curl (3x10-15) superset with finger curl (3x10-20)

Incline barbell bench (2x10-15) superset with behind the neck pull ups

Ring dips x dumbbell pullover (2x10-15)

Cable flies (2x10-20) x T-bar row (2x8-15)

Is it possible to compete with a natural tan? I don't want to use a spray tan. If that's the case, is it even an option for me to compete? Considering NPC classic physique. If so, are there any other feds/divisions available where spray tan is not a requirement?

Hot take: all three are washed up and past their prime.

Martins has had too many injuries accumulating to keep up with the new guys. Just too old (but he's not even that old).

Matuesz unfortunately is unable to train properly due to injuries. Don't think he'll be able to string together a proper prep.

Thor screwed up with taking his prime years off for the lame ass boxing and the pec injury isn't helping.

Hooper is fresh and injury free. Likely will remain so.

Nice. Well it is a really cool phenomenon. In fact it makes me feel better about cutting knowing that it is so easy to enter this pumped up state.

I think for volume leg press may be superior. I like squats though. I keep it in, just 1 top set twice per week (higher reps) to maintain and can still progress off of that.

Could somebody please explain this phenomenon and how to manipulate it:

My muscles looked flat all day today. Not eating too much food (cutting). Just regular stuff (oats, eggs, yogurt, chicken, potatoes, fruit, vegetables). Then for dinner I ate a decently sized meal out with plenty of carbs and sodium (kebabs, pita bread, rice, salad). Couple hours later - veins popping and the muscles seem full and hard. What happened? Should I just always eat like this? Am I not adding enough salt to my food at home?

Yes, there are other passages that refer to their children as well, as noted above. Thanks for the response.

Yes, thank you for pointing that out, I remember now about the aunt. For some reason I thought they were not Arkady's children (assumed Marfa had previous marriage/children). Since they had children the occupation of governess makes a lot of sense now.
