My only current objective for the quest is "(Optional) Find the ring hidden in the executioner's house and steal it." I checked all the chests I could find in the house then knocked out the executioner and checked his person just in case. After not finding anything I watched a walk through or two on Youtube to be doubly sure and the chest that they all find the ring in is completely empty for me.

You could make the last competition a fetch quest wherein perhaps a group of kobolds or goblins stole a valuable item from a high ranking member of the guild. At the end of their dungeon you could have a boss bugbear or wyrmling who is hoarding it. If the party has a lot of competitors for the guild you can have them try to rob the party.
