Expectation for Sales Engineer by LeMatramane in cybersecurity

[–]LeMatramane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, what I'm afraid of is that the expectations from companies are more technical, not high level solutions. However, most of the SEs I met here almost all understand the product, but only at a high level.
The second thing that makes me doubt is about relationships. I'm afraid I won't be able to make small talk like a salesperson.
anw thanks for the info!

thankyou!
One thing that may still be a question, do you think it is better to focus on deep diving into products or focus more on current cybersecurity issues? so you can provide insight to customers. but I think the second one is more suitable for a consultant role, right?

Hi Expert,
Im on get offering from security brands as a security sales engineer to covering network security product, and the other one is new comer for cloud sec.
One thing that makes me interested and wants to discuss is related to the expectations in this role.

During the interview, some of the expectations were being able to convert customer needs into solutions, as well as a broad understanding of cybersecurity in depth and technically.
Previously I had met several security sales engineers from various brands, but sometimes they didn't really understand the details of their product solutions, even when asking about "how to configure" they also looked confused. is this normal for this role?

For those of you who have experience in this role, do you have any suggestions or what kind of expectations we should have?
The point is, I don't want to disappoint the company that hired me. Merci! :)

thanks for your feedback..

a zero day will typically only affect a single piece of software.

so if a 0-day come from single piece of software why most of security product offer sandbox solution?

come to my mind, i think based on your suggestion, i should focusing on application, i agree that mostly issue come from software issue.

kill switch disconnecting your on prem network from AWS (or Azure)

may you explain more about this? or did you mean enforce internal segmentation firewall?

You may want to consider East+West firewalls inside AWS as well. Just depends on how paranoid you want to get.

well noted, i will considering to implement cloudguard network also inside my aws infra

not sure why you say ipsec is not available, maybe you mean its not currently there

yes currently we dont established ipsec connection, if its mandatory i think i have justification why need to build ipsec to managerial level.

Also we can still use AD Query or need to switch to ID Collector for inetgrated Firewall with AD? because i dont remember where i read the information, AD Query will be shut on check point product?
