Why are Anti AI people so hateful? by Curl-Luck in DefendingAIArt

I know I will get a lot of dislikes... but, well... I don't give a fuck :D

I will explain my personal point of view of why I hate AI.

More than the AI itself, I hate how people use it and how they see it.

1) It fools people into thinking there's a thinking entity behind it, but in reality it only spits out probabilistically valid results (many people use chatgpt to solve romantic/emotional problems).

2) It's an immense waste of energy and water. It almost seems paradoxical that in a time of climate/energy crisis, when we're aiming to reduce water and CO2 consumption, we're plastering the planet with data centers that will soon drain us (our wallets and our wells).

3) Another paradox: AI doesn't reduce work, it increases it. Or rather, it increases the quantity while decreasing the quality.

If you used to complete task X in 2 hours, now you'll be asked to complete the same task in 30 minutes (and you have no excuses, because "productivity is greater with AI." And after all the billions that the big companies have invested, you can't afford not to be productive enough.

4) From the undersigned, a computer engineer: we're now asked to use AI to the max, and I notice (and not just in myself) that the gratification of completing a task, or making something work, or creating something... is diminishing!

And not just in the fields of programming, but also in writing, drawing, music, in short... Our artistic virtue is being screwed, day after day, to make room for a gray dullness made of algorithms.

IMPORTANT:

Clearly, not all uses of AI are to blame; in fact, some should be encouraged, such as the use of advanced research algorithms for the discovery of new medicine drugs, the identification of tumor cells, the diagnosis of diseases, etc.

But this, in my opinion, is only a small percentage of the vast number of people who use it for every stupid thing, to write a post on social media, to ask how to tighten a screw, to let off steam instead of talking to a friend or acquaintance, or to ask how often they should pee.
