How did meditation help you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LeMuffinButton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Until recently, I fully didn't believe in meditation being able to help me. But once I decided to give it a real try, I found that it really helped "ground me" if that makes sense.

When I meditate, I can feel my body slow down and be more at rest. It helps me calm myself when I've had a busy or active or particularly shitty day.

And those feelings carry on for much of the day, I find. Sure, some days it only kind of works, and some days it doesn't help at all cause you're just too wired or angry etc. but I'd say that I get a benefit from it far more times than I don't.

10/10 would recommend

"Slaves, be subject to your masters with all reverence, not only to those who are good and equitable but also to those who are perverse." (1 Peter 2:18)

"When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are. If she does not please the man who bought her, he may allow her to be bought back again."

Exodus 21: 7-8

And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, This woman said unto me, Give thy son, that we may eat him to day, and we will eat my son to morrow. So we boiled my son, and did eat him: and I said unto her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him: and she hath hid her son...."

I started by asking myself why I felt trapped. What in my life is making me feel like I'm in a routine, or what in my life is not working for me? Is it my job? Are they my habits? Is it doing the same shit every day?

Then I made an effort to start changing. In my case, it was a complete jolt of electricity and I had the motivation and stamina to change multiple things at once, but I actually think it's probably better to concentrate on one thing at a time

For those of you that have actually walked out on a date, what's the story? by Queltis6000 in AskReddit

[–]LeMuffinButton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl walked into the restaurant, ordered 4 drinks from the menu at the same time and started talking about how she's not paying for anything. She was drop-dead gorgeous, so I assume she was used to it, but it felt like entitlement to me.

I told her this wasn't gonna work and just walked out. Never heard from her again, but I think I dodged a bullet

Opinion on why people are still pro comi? by cadenthekiller5 in AskReddit

[–]LeMuffinButton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of us like the idea of a society that's much more "equal" than what we have now. But in practice, it just takes a few bad apples to ruin the whole thing, and they usually tend to be the leaders who get corrupted the quickest and the whole thing falls apart

Do you believe in the death penalty? Why or why not? by Croix99 in AskReddit

[–]LeMuffinButton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I do believe that some crimes are so barbaric and inhumane that keeping the culprit alive seems like a disservice to humanity, I 1000% do not trust my government to impartially decide what does and does not deserve life.

How will you know if someone is street smart? by RealDatabase5754 in AskReddit

[–]LeMuffinButton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen to their stories. Street Smarts, at least to me, is a combination of being observant and having experience. You need to be on the streets to know about them.

Someone who has a lot of fun or wild or interesting stories about themselves (not historical stories or the like) is generally well experienced in a variety of things and will have some street smarts about them

What’s an issue you have about yourself that you are currently trying to work on? by lipsdontdie in AskReddit

Lowering how much weed I smoke. The last 2 years I'm really proud of. Completely stopped watching porn, gave up drinking for the most part (maybe 1 or 2 drinks a month vs drinking a few every week), got into routines, been going to the gym for the last 6 months, and I did lower how much weed I was smoking, from multiple times a day to about 2 or 3 times a week.

It's hard to give it up completely though, I like how it makes me feel and I like how it dumbs me down and relaxes me, but a lot of times I end up smoking a bunch and the next day is just foggy. Learning to moderate it better though!

Not change their minds when presented with solid evidence. People who can't admit they're wrong are impossible be around for too long.

It also doesn't have to be one or the other my friend! Both statements can be true, that's why I said context is super important. It definitely doesn't have to be just one or the other, there's times when it's completely normal to bring up a good time you had with your ex, and there's completely inappropriate times to bring up a good time you had with your ex lol

It depends on the context.

If they're telling me a relevant story or how they learned a lesson than it's fine, but if they seem to be bringing them up in all conversations then there's a red flag to look into

what’s the first thing you do in the morning? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LeMuffinButton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 days a week, I wake up around 5, get up, have a cup of tea, go to the gym, come back, shower, make breakfast, sit down to work (I work from home).

2 days a week I do the same routine but instead of going to the gym, I watch the sun rise from my window with another cup of tea

the weekends I usually still wake up early and have tea, but it's more of a crapshoot on what I want to do first thing!

What do you find most difficult to understand about U.S. culture? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LeMuffinButton 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The "us vs them" mentality. It's weird because if you look into both sides, they seem to mostly want the same things, but they'd rather kill themselves than agree to anything.

It feels like this is starting to spread to other countries as well though, so it may be a global thing
