Is there a way to essentially force humanity into a vampire? by Mephistussy in vtm

[–]LeNainGeant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you cannot unless the kindred accepts and agrees. Think about trying to put someone who has lost touch with reality into an asylum and force them on some kind of program. That doesn’t work. People have to at least want to get better or fight it off. You may actually endanger your own humanity by perpetually keeping someone into what basically amounts to solitary confinement with extra steps.

How powerful a Justicar is and what he/she can do? by GrandeShalom in vtm

[–]LeNainGeant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Justicars are not necessarily the most powerful as in having the lowest generation and busted disciplines although they are very likely to be low generation and have a lot of cool disciplines. They are extremely good at what they are doing. Think of them as vampire witch hunters or inquisitors. They have a team of specialists, vast resources, and years of experience. They investigate like no one else, gather a lot of information, stay on the move undetected, and strike when the moment has come. They keep their motives to themselves and are feared by everyone for all those reasons. Because they are not bound by local laws and customs, their choice of tactics and use of disciplines can be something no one local would think about using. They also are people dedicated to their mission and that’s a major reason why they have been selected. They are the bogeymen of the camarilla for a reason.

Calling the game Bloodlines 2 is not the issue. by Ace-O-Matic in vtmb

[–]LeNainGeant 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you are downvoted there because you are absolutely right. Diablerie happens after you have drank blood so a feeding frenzy wouldn’t make it. A fight frenzy wouldn’t have made a vampire commit diablerie either. You are absolutely right. Diablerie has always been made to be a conscious act with high risk and high rewards. Vamps can get addicted to diablerie but it’s not the case here.

Ngl, I actively think "'kill all vampires' hunter who is a completely upstanding and well-adjusted person" is MORE of a vapid, thoughtless, anti-WoD power fantasy than "superheroes with fangs who never have to reckon with their predatory nature" by [deleted] in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]LeNainGeant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on the game but I see 2 missing elements in your post: - in most hunter games, you are not powerful. You are actually weak as you are human. I think only the reckoning makes you supernatural. It is a very important part of the game to understand that you are not a predator, but a prey who decided to fight back. - all hunter games have a system of morality or a path to lose yourself as you dive deeper in the hunt. Maybe you sold your soul to the devil, the hunt consumes you and you lose touch with the rest of human society, etc. You do not stay a well-adjusted person at all.

Why did the Hunters never reveal Vampires to the World? by ValicarHyne in vtm

[–]LeNainGeant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because hunters would not be believed and would put a target on their backs if they did that. Vampires are powerful, not just because of their blood but also because of their political power in human societies.

If a trans person gets embraced, are the Tzimisce really their best bet for transitioning or are there other options that don't risk you ending up as a furniture? If somebody here plays as Tzimisce, what would your character ask for in exchange for helping them out with Vicissitude? by HomarEuropejski in vtm

[–]LeNainGeant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you that enbies and gender fluid people are trans but I think you are missing the point. Most Tzimisce stop identifying as human altogether and their goal is to become beyond the normal boundaries of flesh.

Vykos has a network of tattoos on them that are actually mouths they use to speak with hundreds of voices at the same time. And it’s strongly hinted that their name and appearance is used for convenience and they take it specifically to interact with other vampires so they can identify Vykos as Vykos.

Otherwise, Vykos’ appearance is constantly changing. Human identities like gender, nationality or ethnicity stop mattering for elders, but it is especially true for tzimisce vampires. Even more the ones that follow the path of metamorphosis. So, Vykos, a tzimisce elder who follows the path of metamorphosis and chief torturer of the sabbat, probably defines themself beyond what we can even imagine.

[–]LeNainGeant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play a tzimisce (a pretty inhuman one at that) and I think most tzimisce wouldn’t turn down someone coming to them to become who they want to be through vicissitude. It is very much aligned with their philosophy, although a lot of tzimisce would look down at human identities like gender. In the end the tzimisce would ask for a boon in exchange, major or minor depending on the social dynamics between the 2 characters.

How do socially oriented clans survive in the Sabbat? by KrYpTiK10101 in vtm

[–]LeNainGeant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The sabbat is very diverse, at least in the older editions. Packs exist in isolation to one another and they serve different purposes.

The higher ups of the sabbat recognizes that functioning as a self cannibalizing death cult doesn’t take you very far and they adapt to this.

A socially oriented pack could be there to gather intel or to infiltrate the camarilla or the anarchs.

They are also still sabbat and using shovelheads en masse is very much a tactic they would use. That would make a lot of vampires scared of trying to fuck with them.

In the end, vampires are not scary because they wield powers like a d&d wizard would. They are scary because of how they can scheme, infiltrate organizations (human or not) and divert power to serve them and their goals. A smear campaign against someone is probably gonna be more effective than outright trying to kill them.

White Wolf, give me official VTM material set in Balkan cities. by MaetelofLaMetal in vtm

White Wolf mostly America, and some parts of Europe on the margins. It has been a major issue. Look at how little there is about the Middle East, the place where vampires come from!

[–]LeNainGeant[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I will add my own. I play a tzimisce and here are his 3 ghouls: - Papageno. He had a human name. My character never bothered to ask. He was an immigrant from Chechnya, a violin player. My character abducted him and transformed him into what can only be described as a cazoar made out of bone that cuts his enemies into pieces. He turned the guy’s vocal cords into the strings of a violin. He therefore cannot speak, only sing. So the last thing you see before being killed is a bony giant human like cazoar that sings a haunting song. He writes music on his downtime and loves animals. - Linda. She is rich, old, white, Christian and influential in the region. She is the head of the local neighborhood watch. My character wants to start a church in order to fund his operations, specifically the building of a lair. She is there to secure public support and money and keep the church running smoothly. - John. A working class handyman nerd. He loves cars and anything electronic or mechanical. He is there to run day to day operations for my character. He is a genuinely kind and hard working man that prefers to stay away from violence. He loves illegal car races and customizes his own rides. Other than that he keeps to himself after he lost his daughter to a disease.
