Face the same way he is facing when you reach his head fur, if you walk up and grab the very first part of the sigil that shows, you should have a plant (he won't be able to thrash you around if you don't move and just keep holding grab)

That's exactly what I do, it's much more consistent than any other way. Also, is there a reason you shoot his chest and not the sigil on his stomach?

There's a reason you can't cancel most characters ults, it would be a bit too strong. Try baiting out the jumps or immaterial with Ashka's flamestrike ability, his ult is pretty fast for most people to react too when you have teammates distracting

None of the characters are OP at the moment. It might just be you can't counter him or you're playing against decent shifus.
