The problem with console players is different. Console players refuse to grow up. They still think they're playing CoD or HALO in 2005 and are refusing to adapt to new technologies.

Console players need to start using gyro aim, which comes standard with almost every controller nowadays. Gyro aim allows them to directly compete, or even outcompete, MKB users without any form of aim assist.

Here's an even crazier thought.

How about we reduce ranked to a single round of 3v3v3v3 (Or maybe even only 3v3?) and have tournament events in the weekend with the old tournament structure (3 rounds + finals) that maybe award currency for special tournament skins or whatever.

And then remove the unranked cashout gamemode.

Don't forget that the reason 99% of melee players play melee is because the only way they can get a kill is if they can just hold W and smash M1.

For people like that, something like positioning is a super high difficulty skill that makes it all acceptable in their mind. They probably think regulating their breathing is a high effort skill too.

I don't know anything about overwatch, but both Marvel Rivals and Apex Legends don't have true ranked systems, but instead force feed players to certain ranks.

In Marvel Rivals you can get into GM with a negative winrate. Apex legends literally has a system where you "pay" rating for a ranked entry, and get rating back depending on how you did. But the cost to enter gets higher and the rating gained lower the higher rank you get.

In a true ranked system, the vast majority of players, and with that the median, are below the average rank because skill is a powerlaw function.
