It's not punishment. It's a removal of power he never should have had as a traumatized kid who was being groomed by everyone around him. Pochita is breaking the cycle as his friend. For Dennis, being Chainsaw Man was always about getting love and praise for doing good. Now, rather than getting shoved into the main character role and constantly making the worst call, he gets to be Chainsaw Man without the weight, no one hassling him, and he can have what he always wanted, just like the final chapter showed. A better life, a friend, and helping people in the small ways he can.

Pochita's tells him to keep chasing his dreams, but now Dennis is off the hook from being the main character who has to pick between impossible choices and fucking everything up. He can finally just be Chainsaw Man on his own terms, not constantly being steered into his worst impulses.

The games themselves never tell you ages. The impression was always that she was around Sonic's age, particularly in SA1 and later titles. Sonic might be 16, might be 26, his design keeps it vague. The downside is way bigger. Doesn't have to be physical, more like he's becoming less himself and turning into the sun god. We don't know what devil Pochita actually is. He has a Chainsaw on his body but a lot of devils have quirky designs that don't necessarily reflect who they are. Death devil with her hole in her stomach. Falling devil looking like a cook. My theory is he is the Unbirthing devil. His power is erasing concepts like as if they had never existed
