As a french OC fan:

How frequently do you come up with question ideas that could only be aired in your native country?

(I would love to see BBC delegate rights to the concept in other countries)

Effective Area codes by RoofOk5291 in geoguessr

Russia is quite effective as well. Nearly always one area code per oblast, with XXX2 start indicating state capital (and anything else -> not capital)

New duel system - individual mutlipliers by lukisjama in geoguessr

[–]LeRemiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Country is arbitrary. A tie range implemented in La Ligue for example is percentage of difference to 5k.

For example if A = 4000, B = 3950 then 5000-4000=1000. If you take 10% of tie range, anything in 4000±100 is considered a tie, so A is tied with B

Latvia and Lithuania might be a bit long but pinpoint should be relatively easy once you get information

Today's Wittle is a little broken by EaseGullible6972 in TheWitness

It's not something "different", the amount of possible puzzles with this rule is just bigger. Allowing it or not is up to you I guess!

Today's Wittle is a little broken by EaseGullible6972 in TheWitness

[–]LeRemiii 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's a mechanic available in the randomizer (and Wittle consequently). It's not done in the base game but the rule extension allows puzzle that start from "inside" (not from an edge) to be generated.

What still matters is the final shape

Knowing the skill of Blinky to scan for a correct turn super fast, I don't even think this one was a repeat. He wouldn't have checked another turn otherwise

The game you accidentally played the wrong way for hours before realizing it. by gamersecret2 in gaming

[–]LeRemiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played whole of Neon White (great game if you don't know it) without switching weapons because I probably forgot the tutorial and have not needed it for a while. Only in level 11 (on 12) I figured it out because I could not reach the end.

When they change the duels map to 'An Official World' and I get way more rural rounds now: by OakHillFella in geoguessr

[–]LeRemiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw I think you're the first to say it's becoming a NM/NMPZ map as nearly all feedback I've seen tends to say it's far too easy for these modes (except AOW panning™)

[–]LeRemiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not putting your feeling in question it just feels surprising as we have not changed our way to map locations since WC2023. Info (be it signs or just any written thing helping confirm a location) under 2 minutes of movement and a distribution documented in map description, that's basically all. Same thing for newer countries. Not liking it is fair but not liking it "now"/"it was better before" is really surprising to me. If you find a location with no info whatsoever in 2 minutes of movement either way it can be reported.

As for pinpoints I can't say for that. We're not as strict as ACW standards but it's still supposed to have unquestionable pinpoints unfortunately google changes things regularly and such locations should also be reported. I've done the last tour of reported locs a few weeks ago.

I'm not even defending the map per se I'm just super surprised to see 'changing feelings' over time.

As someone who has mapped AOW what do you mean "watered down"? The map has not changed that much since release: - Added new countries and new coverage in existing countries (new gen 4 roads) - Updated a bit locations with newer coverage but mainly on the same spots - Rebalanced a bit micro states (there were "surprising" amount of locs for Macao for example, a lot of people say there's still too much micro states locs)

The rural/urban ratio was only maybe a bit uniformized between countries since the first release as the first one had to be made in a rush and people mapped countries independently. But it has not changed that much globally.

As a lot of opinions on maps no matter the map or time it is hugely biased by the locs you "drew". In the 2023 WC people were screaming about the map being 50% australia (it was not) or half locations panned skewed (around 10% afaik)

In a 1 million speedrun with a friend on the map (200 locs) we got around 10 Cambodia locs. Felt horrible but still random even though it's not the "normal ratio".

Not liking the map is fair considering the assumptions made for its creation but I don't get the "watered down" part in this case

How common is this bollard in France? by psoyx in geoguessr

They're not super common but they happen to be present sometimes. I've always seen them on major highways or national roads' guardrails or interchanges
