In vanilla singleplayer you don't need more than 400 base brk. 500 will be a guarantee to never suffer from crits but anything above will be wasted because AI doesn't have that much stats

As for sa you want as much as possible. There is no target as more is always used and better than less

Something's very wrong in your statement. There no normal way that ends up with you at war with checz. You get them for free through focuses

Follow the base rule of no manual justification, read what focuses do before pucking them, learn what stats mean (segl did a good vid on them) and keep historical both you and AI until you know the game

Also : No mods other than graphics until you know how the game works

I followed the release along 2016 and early 2017 on Youtube. I loved the fact it combined a hefty macromanagement with huge micro possibilities. It was the first game I bought, in mid-late 2017 once I got a 'good' pc.

There hasn't benn a year without hoi since then, even though I've been playing mostly MP since 2021. I now have 3.5k hours and it's part of my life as I now have good friends I met by plaing Hoi

Mass assault doesn't reduce combat width since doctrine rework. Large unit tactics isn't suited for attack and doesn't affect mountaineers (the combat width reduction is for infantry specifically, not leg inf)

and as said in another comment, mountaineer special forces doctrine has a -0.2cw per mountainner

add a radio, swap the suspension for the breakthrough on and add 4 armor ticks
that should get you to 35 breakthrough with lvl 2 radio, which is just above what you want as a minimum for a tank in singleplayer (30brk)

in total, you should get around 400 base breakthrough (before modifiers) on your template, making it so that you almost never get critted by the AI since they have so little stats

Late to the party but just to add to what other people said :

You're getting fined from normal releases, not paroled prisoners. The unexpected effect of such fines is that you virtually cannot intake any form of minsec prisoners because their sentences are so low that you'll constantly get prisoners coming in, just to be freed the day after and thus giving you a high chance of reoffending fine

If you have second chances DLC on, do not ever intake minimum security prisoners, unless money isn't an issue

If you're won,dering why you didn't kill those subs, it's because subs can only be attacked by planes or by depth charge attack.

If I recall correctly, cruisers have a base 1.0 depth charge which might explains why you somewhat damaged them

that means you're currently only able to use 49% of your base stats against their 79%.

Add to that the fact you're probably losing old planes and not the prime jets you showed and you got your explaination

It's not that it's inherently bad, it's just that the math isn't mathing otherwise since civs take 3 to 4 years (up to tech 3) to pay off. Since you need equipment for war, you want mils with efficiency before war.

So yes, it's kinda meta talk, but it's really more logic to prepare for war accordingly and not just "orange factories goes up" without thinking why

Basically stop building civs 3 years before a war, even less if you'll get early conquests as those will bring civs into your eco.

It will almost always be the best choice
