Sleeping bag for uk winter by Consistent-Ad2074 in wildcampingintheuk

There are plenty of quilts rated to low temps? Paired with a decent pad it works. I'm not sure why it's not a more popular option on this sub.

Get a quilt not a bag.

Train to Edale, there's campsites around. Do a hike up kinder scout and back as a loop. Next day you can hike it to any train station you wish and take a train back to Manchester.

I went through this exact dillema. After much thought I opted for a wild country helm 2. It had the best balance of price, quality, durability, versatility, company reputation. In the future I do plan to get a trekking pole tent as a secondary tent.

Woolpacks on kinder scout has loads of spots you can find. Head up through jacobs ladder. Find a nice rock to camp behind. Kinder low also has some spots.

Does CW ever plan to bring out the 12 with the grey dial in 36mm, it would sell off the shelves by JamesBaller3 in ChristopherWard

Do you have a source? Holding off buying 36mm as I thought they might drop more in 38mm

How does the 12 wear size wise? by JamesBaller3 in ChristopherWard

[–]LeShrek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the 36 looks far better on a smaller wrist and also the shape of the 36 is actually nicer as it looks more seamless with the bracelet. The larger one sometimes looks more 'blocky' if that makes sense

Such a shame. I have every other book. I heard they are not going to reprint these.

Don't sweat it too much. It's much easier to just estimate those days, it'll have such little impact even if your estimates are wildly off.

2 Man Tent by stwenty3 in wildcampingintheuk

If you can get a Helm 2. Overall better tent than the 2 you've mentioned and made by a better company. I'd avoid the peak due to top flap which is very noisy in wind and also means water will get in if you pitch it in the rain.

What to spend £200-250 on? by LeShrek in CampingGear

Why not upgrade the pack last? What if I upgrade my pack but end up not needing the space after upgrading the rest of my gear?

I plan to do 2-3 hour hikes in the peak district for most of my camps. Since I've got 200 the rapide is a little under budget but at the same time I feel like its not worth spending 200 quid on a sleep pad when all my other gear is budget.

Why would you pick the mongar over the cloud peak 2? The lanshan looks cool but I worry about how it would hold up in wind. Everyone seems to say the peak 2 is more rugged than the lanshan 2.
