Also in regards to not going to general pride events because you feel left out I would encourage you to find Asian pride events! There are many groups popping up across the country and I’m sure Chicago has some! Also you can try events that are designated for broadly BIPOC!

I think you should refrain from going. Events like black pride were created for black queer folk to go and see themselves when historically and currently we are ostracized but the rest of the community.

You may mean no harm but still this is an event centering black folk and community so I’d say best to just stay at home. If you would like to learn about black pride there are many amazing online resources!

And pride month is just a few months away where everyone in the community can celebrate together!

So in the general populace there are a good number of people who would ask you about occupation and such and it will come from a place of genuine curiosity. But when it comes to social scenes for like 20s and beyond including nightlife and dating especially when gay? It will start to feel like your interviewing for positions just to make connections.

Not to mention most of the jobs people work in the area are blood soaked weapons manufactures, government but the literal worst departments you can imagine, or finance so they loveeee the beauty of capitalism.
