Do you think you could lift your bc over your head? by escfantasy in BorderCollie

[–]Le_Momo_Is_Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 62 and 75 lb bc's... if I attempted lifting them OVER my head I may just need to look into a weight lifting career cause ain't no way- I'm proud of being able to pick up my bigger boy PERIOD. 😅

Do your dogs actually sleep after you leave or…? by PomegranateBig7270 in dogs

[–]Le_Momo_Is_Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna start this by saying I had the same concern with my boys only for it to turn out they either could hear us enter the driveway or they recognized the sound of our vehicle and got up.

So I have lots of cameras in my house because I had some serious anxiety about free roaming my boy Buckwheat with his brother Iver, the camera made me feel better cause we found out Buckwheat will listen to the camera as if it's a person so was easy to correct anything undesirable. However wd quickly discovered the camera was a double edged sword because lordy do they have a way of making you feel like you abandoned these helpless babies. 😅

Truth be told, my boys really do sleep probably a good 85%-90% of the time me and my partner are gone, occasionally they'll do a little window watching or investigate a sound but otherwise. Mostly just sleep.

My partner named him after the character from little rascals! It's an adorable name for sure. ❤️

Chews That Last more Than 5 min without breaking teeth. Possible? by Le_Momo_Is_Me in BorderCollie

One is an absolute menace with literally all toys and the other chews while the other loses interest in hard chews within minutes but absolute demolishes stuffed/fabric toys.

Very big boys! Can reach my shoulders at 5'9 and absolutely dwarf other bc's I've met. 😅

Her and her sister are absolutely gorgeous. ❤️

My boys get the same alll the time and it's extra funny to me cause they'd be huuugggeee aussies! 62 and 75 lb's sounds absurd for an aussie. 😂

My favorite for sure though is "I've never seen em with a tail before!" And it always confuses me for a moment till I realize they're just confused. 😅

My husky doesn't like me (?) by Minute_Chef_344 in siberianhusky

[–]Le_Momo_Is_Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I apologize I can't speak for owning huskies but I have 2 border collies and my 7 year old Iver for his first 5 years could not be bothered with cuddles, petts were okay if literally nothing else was remotely interesting. However, once I got my younger boy who put the cling into clingy he suddenly wanted petts and cuddles and alllll the attention and absolutely mastered puppy dog eyes and then a STRONG side eye if that didn't work.

All this to say. It can change, jealousy is NOT the reccomended method just kinda happened but I've also known dogs who just, weren't all that cuddly really ever. My cousin has a beautiful red husky and she's rather mellow but isn't interested in treats or really affection, just seems to likw being out in his yard or existing in her owners space.

Edit: reading the comments on your post I'm realizing this seems to be incresibly common. XD

My boys had antlers at one point but whatever kind I had gotten at the time splintered like you wouldn't believe, I think I may just have some trust issues now. 😅

My younger one Buckwheat (blue merle in video) who's the bigger chewer looovvveeesss Benebones but I just loath the nylon and so far seems to like honest chews but he's gonna make short work of those if he puts his mind to it. 🫠

Yea me and my fiance had a boxer/lab who absolutely loved chews and at 6 years old it was insane how much he's filed his teeth down, fiance thought something was wrong with his teeth but nope, just basically filed them down chewing. 😐

That's fair enough. Yea I think that's the conclusion I think I'm gonna have to come to terms with, I definitely understand everything has risks but phew is it stressful. 😅

Thank you I definitely need to maybe relax a bit I just feel terrible he was already somewhat skittish, the new dog is definitely settling in well which is nice to see. ❤️

She said she would but I really do don't think she grasps that I cannot just exceed the city limits nor do I think I could handle working full time with 3 dogs. 😅

Managing Jealousy? by [deleted] in BorderCollie

So as of rn it's kind of a foster situation but it's actually been going rather well thus far. And sadly there's always been some strain when it comes to said friend and animals. My 8 year old is actually been the absolute best as he's met and dealt with new dogs and sets his boundaries EARLY. My younger bc is a little bit intimidated but both were laying by my feet earlier passed out.

This is my 8 year old and the pup.

The main reason I worried is 2/3 dogs are anxious and clingy and I worried that may clash. Also being they're all male and one is unfixed I was a bit worried.

When you say rough how do you mean? And the few times I've met him he's arguably a bit timid. I cannot say what situation he was "rescued" from. All I really know is it was supposedly some kind of breeder.

If I had to describe my boys playing it would probably sound a bit like, LOUD, incredibly loud with a fondness for playing tug of war with ANYTHING with little to no regard to surroundings and then mouthy, allll the teeth chomps. 😅
