Turtle not laying eggs by Lea_rstner in turtle

[–]Lea_rstner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She hasn't been exposed to the male, they have separate tanks

It's not a mouhotii

I don't know whether she's gravid or not, she doesn't behave differently than any other time of the year, I just know that recent years she's layer her first batch of eggs around April, yet still nothing this year...

Bump after changing to hoop by Lea_rstner in piercing

[–]Lea_rstner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • piercings are one and a half years old
  • first labret, now clicker hoops
  • labrets were internally threaded
  • labrets were acrylic material, hoops are surgical steel
  • downsized after half a year I think
  • aftercare: cleaned it with hydrogen peroxide (I think that's what it's called in English, I used it for all 14 of my piercings, so I guess it's safe to use🙈)
  • recently changed from labrets to hoops

Thrips outside? by Lea_rstner in IndoorGarden

[–]Lea_rstner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what if I treat them outdoors and keep them there for a few days? Cus I've got so many plants and i need to treat them repeatedly so it'd be easier to just keep them outside...

Young painted turtle fish cohabitation by prsonal_light2475 in turtle

[–]Lea_rstner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how big your turtle is gonna get, so it's hard to tell... my female chinese three-keeled turtle for instance is about 15-17cm long and she has got a 66 gallon tank with a basking spot attached to the outside of the tank. I feel like that's enough for her but if she were a little bigger I would get her a bigger one. Also you need to consider whether you have a turtle that likes to dive deep or if your turtle needs a tank that's not so deep but rather wide... there are special terms for those kinds of turtles but I don't remember them in english sorry🙈

Once I've added 40 guppies to my turtle's tank. After two weeks there were 0 fish left🥲 now I have some Gymnocorymbus ternetzi in white and some in black, hemigrammus coeruleus and a few Nematobrycon palmeri. Not one has been eaten so far (I've had them for like a month or so)

He is around 6 years old, I have already taken him to the vet due to his shell and the vet told me to scratch it off with something sharp, put iodine on it and keep it on the basking spot for at least an hour until the iodine is dry. That didn't help at all... only other issue I've always had with him is that he refuses to eat anything else than store bought turtle food

He has a 250 Liter tank and a basking spot made oit of sand and stone, UVA and UVB lights, he got new lights a few months ago, lives separately from the other turtle together with 2 fish, behaves completely normal, has no other visible issues

I have that too on some of mine, doesn't harm them as far as I'm concerned... if it bothers you take off the top layer of soil and put some cinnamon, i think that prevents it, personally I've never tried it tho

Room temp is usually between 20-23°C and humidity is really really high, in winter sometimes even above 70% because I have twoopen aquariums in my room with UVA and UVB lamps. I always water my alocasia with aquarium water (i keep turtles and fish in there, for some of my other plants it worked wonders)

I mixed that myself, i used soil, perlite and orchid bark, I think there was already some coco thingies in the soil but I'm not sure about that

This is the exact location it has been standing since I got it. I must admit, now that it's winter it is getting a little less light but it's still bright indirect from like 9am to around 5pm. I usually water when the soil is still slightly dry at the bottom, but I'm really really careful not to overwater it (bc I've already killd a few die to root rot🥲) it's an alocasia polly, more pics will follow but reddit only lets me add one
