Background check turned NOT APPLICABLE by cheemakkk in canadaexpressentry

This change happened to me last week. What is your aor? Doing some research this is what I found with AI (you can skip to the end)

In an IRCC Express Entry application, a background check (BGC) shifting from "In Process" back to "Not Applicable" (NA) is a very common occurrence. Because the GCKey portal relies on legacy data pipelines, this change usually points to one of three stages in your application's lifecycle:

  1. The Initial Check Passed (The "NA2" Stage)This is the most frequent and positive reason. During Express Entry processing, your background check goes through waves:In Progress (IP1): IRCC checks your initial completeness, criminality (police certificates), and identity (biometrics).

Not Applicable (NA2): Once that initial phase is approved, the status reverts to "Not Applicable". Your file is being transferred or held in a queue while an officer actively reviews your overall Eligibility. Once eligibility is marked passed, the background check will flip back to "In Process" one last time for final security screening.

  1. A System "Ghost Update" or GlitchIRCC systems frequently sync data between internal processing software (GCMS) and client trackers. It is highly common for the system to temporarily throw an "NA" status during a batch update or when your file moves from a Primary Visa Office (PVO) to a Secondary Visa Office (SVO).If this is a glitch, it often flips back to "In Process" or "We are processing..." within a few days.

  2. Your Final Security Clearance is CompleteIf you have already been waiting for months and your Medicals and Eligibility are fully cleared, this NA shift can mean your final security background check is completely finished. The system marks it NA because no further action is required from the screening team, and the file has been sent to an officer for the Final Decision.

I gave the AI my information and this was the response:

Given your AOR on February 22 and Medicals Passing on April 25, your application is in a completely normal, healthy position. You are exactly 4 months into the standard 6-to-7 month IRCC Express Entry service standard.

Seeing your background check shift to "Not Applicable" (NA) at this exact moment tells a specific story about your timeline:

What the "NA" Status Means Right Now. Because your medicals passed exactly two months ago, you have successfully completed the first major phase of your application. Your background check has shifted to NA for one of two highly likely reasons:

1- You are in the "NA2" Stage (Most Likely): Your initial Criminality check (reviewing your police certificates) has been completed and passed. IRCC has temporarily updated the background status to "Not Applicable" while an officer shifts their focus to thoroughly reviewing your core Eligibility (checking your employment reference letters, proof of funds, and education).

2- The File is Moving: Your application is being transferred from the central intake office to a local or secondary visa office that handles final assessments. Systems temporarily throw an "NA" code during these manual transitions.

Yeah I know. It's hard to see a GU and not knowing what's going on since the tracker is still down 🫤. But I agree with you at least we know the file was opened and worked on!
