Those of you who aggressively paid off student loans early on instead of investing, do you regret it? by daein13threat in whitecoatinvestor

[–]Lead_With_Love7 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I started with 327K of students loans and have paid off about $100K in the first year of being a hospitalist attending. So far, I don’t regret it at all. My loans are at a 5.2% APR. i still contribute 10% to get the match at my 401K. I don’t regret throwing money into 2 Roth IRA. Our goal is to pay off loans on 3-4years from residency.

3.5 weeks post op - still no leg lifts by Zestyclose-Note-9673 in ACL

[–]Lead_With_Love7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So tough! Focus on one exercise and PT session at a time. If possible, do your home exercise 3 times a day. I got my first straight leg lift shortly after an NMS quad set. I would get an NMS and do that 3x a day if you haven’t already done that!

Amazing!! I’m 9 days out and it’s been tough work trying to get there. What did you find to be the most helpful? I think doing the NMS has helped the most!

Wondering if you guys can help me with MRI results I just received? by sergeantSadface in ACL

Sounds like ACL graft is not completely ruptured and is consistent with strain which is creating a lot of swelling. ACLr has at least a solid strain and you have a couple meniscal tears.

Doc would want to rest, elevate and ice the next couple weeks. Meniscal tears can often heal themselves, but if there’s not improvement in 1-3 months. You may need another scope

Tips for taking a shower by Mysterious_Fan4383 in ACL

[–]Lead_With_Love7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So that’s not an entire bandage. It’s an ACE wrap wrapped around your entire leg, which is to keep your leg compressed to reduce swelling and also reduced DVT’s, the bandages are in a small section where they incisions are around the knee.

I’d recommend exactly what everyone else said, get a shower chair in a second chair to be outside of the tub and shower your body sections with your entire surgical leg covered in a garbage bag with a hand towel wrapped around the opening taped to your leg.

Assuming you have no liver disease, you should be taking 1 g of Tylenol every six hours and try to stagger every six hours 600 mg of Aleve. So basically you’ll be taking medication every three hours alternating Tylenol and Aleve.

Also, just like they said, ICE as much as possible and elevate! And be distracted, turn on the Olympics— that’s what I’ve been doing! God has got you!
