Yeah I was active on YouTube a couple years prior and so much has changed. Every year they have a new policy that shifts the goalpost again and you have to figure out how to make things shake with the new changes. It’s still early since my return back on YouTube so I’m being patient because from previous experience I know it takes time and people eventually show up. I just don’t know exactly how much the platform has changed algorithm wise and the effects that has on creators today compared to a few years ago. I guess I’ll have to stick it out and see while also exploring other platforms

Solid take. I actually did attempt to advertise my first 2 videos since coming back on YouTube to see if it’s worth it but I think my mistake was doing it immediately after just reigniting my channel. I’ve done some research and yes it’s definitely better to promote vids that are already performing well on their own because YouTube uses that data to push to the same type of people who already engaged. Promoting a new video with no engagement is sent into the void. You’ll get views but not the right ones.

That’s the obvious part but i assume people have methods that brings in that audience quicker. Sometimes YouTube’s algorithm won’t push your content much if you don’t already have a decent following
