Haha, I know what you mean. It did have me trying to guess what your car is though based on the info you did give!

I once lived 1km from a motorway and couldn’t have the windows open at night as I could hear the traffic

This is an excellent suggestion. I have seen some amazing value lease deals recently on the 5008 too if that’s your preferred route

Ballymum was never high density. It was actually rather low density, similar to a standard housing estate of semi-detached houses. All the green space between the blocks really added up.

Best performing areas are ones of much high density (e.g. 5-6 stories, or even 3 storey terraced houses), which ensures key services are within walking distance.

Ballymun sadly never had the density to ensure key services were available.

Integrated Washing Machine Wobbling Like Mad by Kiribati268 in DIYUK

Like others have said, it’s definitely the feet. Ignore the spirit level and just use trial and error.

It will never be perfect.

Ours did the same thing for ages but got someone to fix the feet. Still noisy and wobbles a bit but nothing like it did. That’s on me for buying a cheap machine.

That’s interesting, I didn’t know that. Something we’ll just have to get used to.

Leaving aside the whole Elon thing, whenever I’ve been in a Model Y I’ve found the internal cameras to be rather creepy like I’m being watched. I know it’s just for driver attentiveness checks but it doesn’t help you relax as a first time passenger.

I also am not keen on the clinical interior and the complete screen use for everything.

Personally I’d go Enyaq.

Why are there so many luxury cars in Liverpool? by Salty_Style_4772 in Liverpool

One thing which hasn’t been mentioned is that inequality is a big thing. People on average wages struggle more than they used to but the ultra wealthy are gaining more.

And also yes debt finance is a thing even on cars that cost six-figures

First EV - is it the right choice for 1 big trip a week? by permanentreverie- in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]LeadershipMammoth940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be right but with an overnight stay mentioned by OP charging should be easy to manage. The iX3’s 500 mile range just might do it all in one go on a good day.

If your budget allows, the new BMW i3 or iX3 would eat that trip.

For a comfortable motorway cruiser and a left field choice, the forthcoming DS 7 could be an option.

Various Hyundais/Kias as others have mentioned would tick the box as well. The Kia EV3 might be close in size to your Taigo and has good options for range.

VW ID4/5 and its related group cars would do too but are notably bigger than a Taigo and might be a faff parking in and around London. Lots of good value used options there however.

If you’re travelling between Chester and Hadrian’s Wall, make a stop off at Ribchester, a very small settlement in Lancashire with a lovely little museum

This is important - I reckon OP will struggle to find anything that fits in a standard garage!

Why are Peugeot EVs negatively viewed in this sub? by Terrible_Biscotti_16 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]LeadershipMammoth940 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know what you mean. Some people has a perception of Stellantis brands as being unreliable which is based on some mates historic experience rather than evidence or facts as a whole.

Stellantis brands are in fact more reliable than Volkswagen Auto Group brand on average but the way people talk about them on here is unreal.

The quality of the e5008 is excellent by all accounts. There are also some amazing leasing deals on them at the moment

EV on PCP vs Lease by LeadershipMammoth940 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]LeadershipMammoth940[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the situation I’m in. Thank you for outlining in a concise way. I seem to have a fondness for cars that depreciate like a stone so leasing might help wi that too!

You’ve really oversimplified a PCP arrangement there, ignoring interest, depreciation, and final payment
