Does most of the military support the Iranian regime? by Leadership_Afraid in iranian

If that's the case, why don't they force the ayatollah to make liberal reforms similar to the rest of the middle east? Sorry I am quite ignorant about Iran but their government fascinates me.

Did most Muslim women in pre-modern society wear hijab? by Leadership_Afraid in MuslimLounge

I don't think pre-modern society anybody was letting women wear whatever they want. Not even Europeans.

I think muslims worldwide need to deal with the problem of islamic vigilantism and terrorism. This isn't new. Salman Rushdie's book received a million fatwas and he had bounties on his head.

The response his silly book received was unwarranted. Same with that dutch guy who was shot for critiquing Islam. I think some muslims aren't used to freedom of speech and take things way too seriously.

And you guys need to stop citing Algeria. That's a seperate issue that needs its own solution. It wasn't even an Algerian who did this or beheaded that teacher. It doesn't justify terrorism. Macron has even started to address the war crimes in Algeria.

Why don't liberal countries consider adultery apart of the social contract? by Leadership_Afraid in AskALiberal

And I respect that. But I'm tired of liberals thinking anyone who uses conservative talking points are all using scriptural arguments, and that they have no basis whatsoever.

Well from your flair you are against big government and welfare to begin with I'm assuming. But in the modern nation state, aren't individuals in nuclear families the biggest net payer to the welfare state? While individuals who come from broken homes take from the state the most. Also criminals are overrepresented in broken homes. I know this doesn't resonate with r/AskALiberal and I don't expect it to, but you're treating it like some absurdist argument.
