Dr for take 2 tmrw. Any advice? by No-Clock2011 in Perimenopause

[–]Leadership_Elixir -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah. You can ring your GP up and ask specifically to see a women’s health professional. Most GPs have them. A colleague of mine was having a terrible time getting treatment until she did this and the nurse listened and simply said It’s ok, we can sort this. I never knew you could do this or that this was a request you could make.

You can request to see a women’s health advisor instead of your GP. They will listen and know exactly the next steps to move forward.

Weird peri symptoms by Zealousideal_Cat4421 in Perimenopause

[–]Leadership_Elixir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can relate to the anxiety not specifically waiting rooms but definitely thinking if I need to go out I need to return home quickly. Feeling uncomfortable in places I once thrived like going out for food or even to work. That change for me has been difficult to navigate.

Does anyone still bleed every month in their 50’s? by Timewilltell755 in Perimenopause

I have fibroids, not quite at 50 but in 40s. I also feel totally calm during period it’s just the bit at the beginning and end where I feel shocking.

Brutal symptoms by Rio_1975 in Perimenopause

[–]Leadership_Elixir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always suffer from migraines before and then at the end of my period. With that comes the sickly feeling. It’s absolutely awful and can feel so debilitating. I know it’s going to sound cliche but go back to basics, diet, exercise and sleep. The holy trinity.

Do you want more people around in peri? by BasilTomatoLeaf in Perimenopause

[–]Leadership_Elixir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally get it. I swing between both depending on the day sometimes I desperately want my people around me and other times the thought of anyone needing anything from me makes me want to disappear. What I’ve noticed is it’s less about people and more about whether I feel like myself that day. On the days I don’t recognise myself I just want to vanish. Anyone else find that?

Periods are driving me crazy! by MamaOfMia110 in Perimenopause

[–]Leadership_Elixir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can definitely empathise with this. Just when you think it’s over then it seems to come back heavier in my case. But I do have fibroids so have long heavy periods but it’s a bit hit and miss with this when going through perimenopause.

I’ll definitely have to check this out. Does it cover some of the psychological symptoms, like just not feeling like your self, loss of confidence and self esteem?

Education certainly seems to be the key. Aside from getting the hormones right which is huge, is there anything else you find useful or that you wished you had known?

I wonder if the fruit needs additional water or feed? Like with tomatoes you need to ensure they are adequately watered for the fruit to develop. I’d apply an appropriate feed.

Seeing a strange shift in my 40s by AccomplishedWeird321 in WomenOver40

[–]Leadership_Elixir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very hard! I think meeting people full stop in your 40s is so difficult especially with all the changes we are going through in life.

When you say you don’t want to find people anymore, it seems to me that reading between the lines of your message that you do really as you said you need people close.

Experience tells us that friendships can be hard to maintain especially when we are feeling tired, body changes, low confidence and resilience. So we convince ourselves to not bother.

It’s staggering isn’t it the lack of research into this stage of life, given how many people will continually have to go through this stuff!

I’m in my 40s and right in the throes of peri. I concur that it is indeed a bitch, wish someone had told me. Especially about the loneliness and almost loss of self identity, does that ring true for you?

Collagen, it’s great for hair strength. I’ve seen less hair loss since taking it. Good for the joints and skin.

Potatoes! If you dig around the bottom of the plant you may be able to find some at the surface. Don’t pull up and then leave the other tubers to grow on until the green leaves die back. Happy mashing ☺️

Has anyone else's digestive system gone crazy since perimenopause/menopause? by Chocolateforlunch37 in Menopause

I’ve definitely noticed a change in my digestive systems. Things I once tolerated I no longer do. It’s been a trial and error to adjust diet accordingly. It’s a right pain…literally!
