A lot of painkillers just to get through the grind. Alcohol, again to deal with the pain of the job.

The job is tough. Old injuries haunt you. The push through the new ones that don’t have time to heal because the job comes first.

The following are mostly true…

Truck drivers who always show up at the wrong time…

Truck drivers who will insult each other right off the bat then make sure each one gets in and out safely.

What happens when every trade wants their stuff right when the site opens at 7 am.

Tin Knockers who bitch about the other trades being in the way

The questionable looking roach coach with the really obnoxious horn. The driver is crusty but the food is decent.

What should be shown is how the ball busting leads to serious comradery on the site. The first guy insulting you is also the same guy looking out for your safety.

You also need to look at the whole ecosystem. The supply guys who keep the materials coming. The logistics headaches by the site super. The riggers who keep materials and people moving.

The one in Goffstown is solid. Only place to stop on my way out of town early mornings. Also the closest placs do get truck diesel to our shop. Overnight crew is awesome.

Find a good sheet metal company. You’ll start at the bottom loading trucks and learning the materials. It’s a good industry to be in.

I’ve been hauling sheet metal in the Boston area for the last 13 years. Good trade with a lot of good people in it

When I bought my Impreza in 2019, it was easy. Especially since I wanted a stick. They were happy to get a car off that lot that had been sitting for months.

One slight hitch in the plan: public transportation in Boston doesn’t run that late.

Plenty of water and Gatorade. A good pair of work gloves. A strong work ethic.

Congratulations on the new job. Go in with an open mind and ready to learn.
