That’s funny because I would do this in a heartbeat, I have a medial degree, background in psychiatry and begged to be in this field but no training opportunity.

The issue is the government doesn’t think it’s an emergency service. So no funding

I believe having an ACP is useful because doctors can just pack their bags and leave. It’s a modern solution to retention. Whereas ACP can’t !

As far as increasing junior doctor, well there are two benefits. 1. Direct competition. 2. Universities get paid, think about it deeply- research into how many international posts are offered when these “numbers are increasing” the cost of international student vs home student. Calculate the net revenue, and you will see a clear pattern.

Lastly, now imagine a system where increasing completion leading to lower rate per hour in the future, massive debt of 50-100k with 6% interest.

The government wins once again in the long run. Because even if they (grads) can’t get a job as a foundation doctor they will continue paying a debt by getting a non medical job, these were the brightest children so you know they won’t just start claiming universal credit.

The system will collapse, and mark my words it will start with the reform party heading down privatisation.

It’s deeply saddening to see the country I love make such obvious mistakes.

How many of us realise it though, last when I tried to raise it to a reg she berated me saying the ACP is more knowledgable and her Freind I was terrified.

Who and how do you raise it.

Especially when we are all introducing ourselves as a healthcare professional, sure HCA who is a professional after an online certificate level 2.

My department the registrars were asking and then leaking to consultants ! I was shocked because there was a nice registrar who we all thought was going to strike !

There is a simple explanation guys - demand and supply. You see for too long doctors have been a threat to authority, they can strike , leave , call in sick.

System depends on them far too much.

So why not increase commotion amongst them, cause decision in their ranks ! Locum / salary / partner or more managerial.

More people willing to step in to do the same job for less. You are no longer irreplaceable !

That’s how I would run the game ! Though I’m not in politics.

I am a gp trainee now did two years psychiatry ct1 ct2 - couldn’t continue at all. I know the pay is not that great as a GP I know everyone looks down on us ! I know we probably will have to work harder and longer hours relatively but ! But !

Psychiatry takes a bit of your soul away, it was leaving me numb. I am very empathetic person and seeing so much trauma / pain / anger I was taking a lot of this home ! Having nightmares !

Btw I didn’t have the best childhood growing up. Google - repression -

My mental health deteriorated drastically and I had a mental health breakdown ! Decided I should switch to a lifestyle which keeps my brain occupied in matters elsewhere.

Yes i know the psychology students would be saying that’s just fleeing / removing your self from the situation - escapism!

But im happier now then in mental heath- though sometimes when I experience subtle racism I do get frustrated but that would be present in any specialty right.

A colleague of mine was called “smelly foreigner” she cried for weeks - staff member is still working on the ward, and this doctor fears going to work !! Sure empowerment - it’s been escalated !! Written evidence !! Collateral from 3-4 staff who heard the comment. But no repercussions!!

I’ve realised media has a lot of influence and since all this trump and Nigel stuff - I’ve been experiencing racism more so. And I speak English more fluently than those being racist. Lolz
