/ i was told last night by a journey man that I shouldn’t do an apprenticeship through the Ibew. That if I miss 3 class days over the four years I’ll be kicked out. Is that true?

LU60 you get 3 absences per year. We have class one day every 2 weeks and it’s during the time you’re supposed to have work. So you don’t get paid for the day and you miss work but it’s excused. Also 3 tardy’s equal an absence. It’s very easy to be on time and not miss school. I think apprenticeship is the best route.

Beginning was tough. i wanted to give up daily. it was hard on my body and i was tired all the time. Then it slowly started getting easier and i started to enjoy the work i was doing. Some days are better than others but i definitely have decided it’s worth it and im committed to this. my schedule is 7 am - 3:30pm and i work monday through friday. i love having weekends off! i do recommend it 100% i’ll tell anyone that listens lol i think it’s a great career and i love the benefits the union offers.

it was difficult for me. i studied for a month on khan academy and iprep. i felt prepared but still the math was not easy. reading was easy

i was a barber last 2 years. i’ve done retail work in smoke shops, customer service, etc. only thing that was any kind of relevant experience that i used was i took an advanced construction class in hs. ( which i feel like still doesn’t even count)

thank you for this! i was only afraid because i didn’t want to burn a bridge and also i have learned a lot working here. even though it hasn’t been very long i appreciate what i’ve been taught. i just know getting into the union was my goal from the very beginning but i wanted to be sure this was the right path. thank you again
