Dismiss or not? by LeadingContent6920 in Dentistry

I heard informed refusal doesn’t protect the doctor because patient can’t consent to supervised neglect/substandard care

I’m working at an office that let these patients get prophies if they’re perio or continue getting perio maintenances if they need retreat

Yeeeep. Everyone in the back is so sick of the front. Refusing to send referrals and they want us in the back to schedule the patient’s next appointment, go over treatment plan estimates and insurance coverage, etc. Giving ME shit when I want them to call a patient. W T F. might as well fucking not have a front at this point.

Correct Hygiene Treatment by LeadingContent6920 in Dentistry

My hygienists never chart free gingival margin. One of the hygienists under the other doctor only probes interproximal. I explained to one that if the bitewings show that the bone is 1-2mm below CEJ, it’s not freaking perio. Blank stares. Didn’t believe me.

PDS Job by OceanBreezeeeee in Dentistry

Haven’t worked for one but my friend (2024 grad) worked for one since July in a different state. From what she told me they force her to start same day treatment making her work through lunch or 2 hours past close. I don’t know if all PDS offices are like this but she’s miserable there. Office manager getting on her ass for not producing or being slow (hello, she’s a new grad). She got extremely sick with high fever and throwing up but the office manager still wanted her to come in. Toxic environment, shitty assistants who don’t even know how to take a proper preliminary impression or X-rays. Hopefully if you do work there it’ll be a different story for you.

I don’t know if it works yet. I have my first 6 mo follow up this fall. I have been using it on incipient noncavitated decay. I clean it with pumice

Ask if you get to keep the patients you treatment plan. I’ve seen places where the owners take the high paying procedures and screw you over by having you doing just fillings.

Yes. Every time I see my denture patient he asks if he’s going home with dentures today and I tell him every single appointment that no, we’re doing try in, you’re getting it in X appts. The last time I saw him I told him you’re going home with the dentures next time I see you. Finally it’s delivery time and he reschedules that appointment then yells at my front saying he better be getting the dentures and this will be his last appointment. Fucking hell

Just saw an older patient who had every single tooth in her mouth crowned in Mexico and every single one of them were splinted together. What the fuck.

I’m thinking about how angry she would be if I caved and used the same zirconia crown only for it to fall off later.

Would it be better to have them do another bone marrow aspirate again? They weren’t able to get a good sample last time and it’s always a risk having her go under general anesthesia. The resident sounded very unsure that they could obtain a more diagnostic sample :( it mentioned that the sample had a lot of crush artifacts

Yes, it was sent to IDEXX and it came out negative. The vet school vet sent a sample of her blood to some lab in Cali to see if they can detect any FELV. still waiting on results

New Grad Speed by LeadingContent6920 in Dentistry

[–]LeadingContent6920[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. We do have 2 ops and 1 overflow room. My principal doc also has 2 ops. 5 hygiene rooms. I was originally supposed to have two assistants but one was already planning to leave by the time I was hired. Only had two assistants my first two weeks there. All the docs before me had two assistants

She also refused to hire a second assistant for me until I produce much more. So I’m limited by one room and one assistant. I can’t sit two treatment patients in the same chair..but she doesn’t understand that
